Falling

I heard the sound of a mighty wind rush pass me as I floated on the air. I started to open my eyes, only to feel my stomach drop! I must have been five hundred feet in the air, and falling towards the earth at uncomfortable speeds. Thoughts like, "How did this happen? Where am I? and, Why is this happening?" Drowned out from the immediate mind set for survival.

Off to the left was the shape of a pond with a giant forest surrounding it. Seeing little options, I did my best to divert my path towards it. It was getting close now... three... two... one..!

I crashed into the water crying out in pain. My arm burned like fire, and it only intensified in my movements. I don't know how I survived the fall, but I struggled to hold the rest of my breath while swimming up with just my one arm.

I burst from the water's surface crying out in agony. This was misery itself, and the pain was only growing now. I got to the shore line and heaved in ragged breaths. "Oh for the love of grace it burns!" I felt my eyes water as I stared at my arm. I didn't remember having blue and black fur, but I didn't much care compared to the current problem of it throbbing.

My arm's shoulder was out of place with swelling on my forearm. "Oh please... shoot!" I tried my best to not release the flood of swears on my mind. Instead I tried to think of something to do. I vaguely remembered something about popping your arm back in place, and nearly vomited from the thought alone.

"Okay, come on, come on! You got this, you got this." I grabbed my shoulder as I psyched myself up. "Okay, okay, okay, one... two..." I howled in agony as it took all my strength to not fall down from this torchere. After a few minutes I could breath again. "Ha-ha-ha, ho man, I am marking this on my horrible experience list!" I tried to lighten the mode even a little bit with that comment, yet it did little in effect. The fact remained that I was hurt, alone, confused, and hungry.

Based on how my howling didn't bring any living being around me, I could assume that nothing was in the immediate vicinity at least. "Come on Chase think. How did this happen..? How did this happen..?" I focused on reviving any recent memories, yet even distant ones seemed at the best lost to me. "Huh, I guess I'm officially diagnosed with amnesia too then, great!" The last word I ended up barking out in my irritation, and everything leading up to this point.

After a minute I tried to sort through my thoughts to formulate a plan. "Okay, let's list what I do know. First, I am in a forest next to a pond. Two, I have a damaged shoulder and a swollen arm." I gazed at those then looked around at the rest of my body. "Besides those two major injuries, I have a strange body to top it all off... Now, let's see what I can work with."

I got up looking around my surroundings some more. "First things first," I told myself, "I need some sort of support to keep from damaging my arm more." I looked around for something to use before I spotted a decent looking branch to fit the job description. After picking it up and observing it's strength, I nodded, satisfied with the durability. "Okay, have the support. Now I need something to hold it in place." I then caught a glimpse of something dark to my right.

I looked over to see something peculiar. In a tree branch was a damaged satchel with a unique faded clip. I couldn't help a frown creeping onto my features. "Okay, that's... convenient..? Naw, I'm just going to go with weird on that one." I stepped towards it, checking for overall damage. It was definitely here for awhile judging from the ware and tear on the bag itself, yet the strap still looked useful. I could use it to hold my arm in the sling I was making. The only problem now, was how to get it down. "Hmm, if I was an old bag in a tree, how would I get down?" I then had an idea.

With my good arm, I used the stick I had to try and knock the bag down. "Come on... little... further..." It finally released and landed on the ground with a thump. "Sweet! You still have anything in ya little baggy?" I knelt down as I tried to open the flap.
