Joey and I talked the whole hike up to our little camp that we had set up.
Jimmy had been avoiding us by running ahead.
I wish he didn't care about Joey and I being so close, but he does.
We're just friends though.., right? I only thought of Joey as a friend. but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea of us becoming more that friends.
I don't think he feels the same way. Why would he? I'm no one special. Joey could have any girl he wanted.
I snapped back into reality. The reality of where I was and what was happening.
I looked up at the sky. I felt Joey lying down next to me.
"Do you see that?", he asked me.
"What?"
"Do you see the stars and the shapes they're making?"
"Yea, Joey. I see them"
"It's nice"
"What, the stars?"
"Yea, it's nice not worrying about the games right now. Just you and I and the sky. It's really nice"
I say up abruptly.
"WAIT, where's jimmy and jenn?"
"They left ten minutes ago."
My heart started pounding. What if I never see them again?
Joey saw me panicking.
"No, no, no! they just went out to find food. it's ok meghan."
I lay back down and focused up at the stars again.
"Good." I said relieved. "I'm glad they're ok"
