(Who Are They?)
Lana's eyes fluttered open to someone calling her name.
"Lana, Lana are you awake?" Mel hoarsely whispered.
"Now I am. What's wrong?" Lana yawned, too tired to be grumpy.
"Nothing. I just can't sleep. The forest is much louder than I thought it would be and you do know that I am a light sleeper...." murmured Melissa, sighing.
"Mhm. It is windy out so the trees are moving. It's a peaceful sound to me." Lana stopped when a wolf howling was heard, "Well...most of it is peaceful. Did you get any sleep?"
"A little... a few hours at most." replied Melissa.
"Well, at least you got a little. By the position the moon is in, it's should be around 1:00 o'clock in the morning. Lana looked up to the sky.
"Mm." murmured Melissa, sleepily. Her eyelids flickered shut then a wolf howl broke the silence. Melissa's eyelids flew open again."Why must it be so noisy, Lana? I am so tired."
"I know, I miss Father singing to us. It always put us right to sleep when we were little. I wonder how long we'll be here for, Loreena and Orion had to been able to do something. Hopefully Merek got at what they were trying to say also." Shaylana sighed.
Melissa nodded. "Mm. I miss Father and Mother..." she muttered under her breath.
"I know, they'll be ok, trust m-" Lana's voice was muffled by a hand being put over her mouth.
Melissa's mouth dropped open and she was about to scream before another hand clamped across her mouth. They heard the soft sawing of metal against thick rope then their bonds fell away. Shaylana and Melissa's eyes met for a brief moment then they were both dragged away.
Lana tried to hit the hand covering her mouth, but another shadow came over her. "You must be quiet, Golany sent us to get you two back." Lana stopped squirming, soon the hand was taken off and a young but pretty good looking man stood over her.
"Are you alright m'lady?" The young man asked reaching to help the princess up; his voice a little deep but kind, there was a tang of frustration in it.
Meanwhile, the hand around Mel's mouth was loosened and she could speak again. She whirled around about to severely rebuke the person who had 'kidnapped' her from her kidnappers. She stopped and her mouth dropped open. She quickly remembered her mother saying to never stare at someone with her mouth open as wide as a goldfish's. She snapped her mouth shut. Goodness. Was I really saved by that...man....hold on, I think he is an elf. Those pointed ears....he is an amazing looker though, compared to Papidoulos or John Manly Harrington...
The man interrupted her rambling in her mind, "Don't want flies in there do you now, Princess?" The man teased, grumbling slightly and ran off were Mel could hear fighting.
Mel blushed beet red. She marveled at how quietly he could run, his feet not making a sound. She turned around and found her sister, Shaylana facing off against another good looking fellow. Not as good looking as the man you rescued me though. thought Melissa smiling.
Shaylana ignored the hand reached out to help her up, she quickly but carefully stood up. Lana turned around to another older man behind, the one who dragged her away from the tree she was tied up to.
The elf who had offered to help Shaylana up withdrew his hand and turned to the older man.
"Markus, could you assist this young lady and her sister to the palace. I must ensure the safety of the rest." asked the elf, yet his tone of voice almost sounded like a command instead of a question. The older man nodded and put his hand on Lana's shoulder softly, the two took a few paces to where Mel was, looking confused but wistful.
Melissa looked up. "Oh hello," she murmured not seeming to focus very well on them.
"Mhm...." The man chuckled, as if he knew what was going on in Mel's mind.
"Melis-Mel," Lana corrected herself, knowing she couldn't trust the group who saved them just yet. "I guess we must go to some palace."
Melissa blinked. "Oh....Oh right. Let's go then." She turned around and glanced back at where that gorgeous boy had gone then turned around to follow her sister.
"So, found anything about the group?" Lana whispered to her sister, the girls behind Markus, who was leading deeper into the forest.
"What do you mean group?" asked Melissa, obviously still in a daze which Lana could not understand.
"The people who saved us silly. Oh please don't tell me, i don't want to know why you look like that." Lana rolled her eyes.
"Oh of course. The answer is no." replied Mel.
"You didn't notice that they were elves then?" Shaylana looked at her sister skeptically, usually Melissa caught those things first.
"Yeah of course. I noticed that first thing... I have also noticed your elf seems princely." Melissa murmured an answer.
"Ok woah, my elf? He's just an annoying elf that might be of higher ranking. And don't even think I have the same thoughts toward him as you do to that elf you were talking to." Lana grumbled, dragging her feet with tiredness.
"W-what? Me like him? That is ridiculous! Well...maybe not....a little bit..." muttered Melissa.
"Thought so, I could tell, we're twins after all." Lana nodded, knowingly.
"Uh, your highnesses, the man the that came up to the princess i had. He's well....he's the Prince."
"Prince of where?" Lana tried to make her face calm. All of the princes she had met were obnoxious, rude, and only cared about themselves.
"Ma'am. He is the Prince of a small kingdom." replied Markus.
"Hm, ok. How do we know we can trust elves? The stories our mother told us weren't always the....best." Lana looked up to see Markus leading them to a pegasi drawn carriage.
"P-pegasi pulling a carriage?" asked Melissa in surprise. "You elves must be rich." she added softly.
"Um, well. You lady must be very tired." Merkus extended his hand to help the girls in the carriage. They both accepted it, being too tired to be grumpy. "It might be a longer ride. So, hopefully m'ladies get some rest. Oh and you can trust us, stories aren't always telling the truth." He closed the door and jumped onto the front. He urged the pegasi forward, and they were off into the sky.
