A New Kingdom

Lana jolted forward, making herself come out of her dream. She looked around, she was in a huge room. It was decorated in blues and silvers. To the left was two wooden doors and to the right a window, one larger door, most likely the bath and closet, a small wooden door, the servants door. There was a small table across from the bed with two blue chairs beside it. Next to her, her sister was sitting, looking at her questioningly. They both were in a bed the size of the one they had back at Livonia.

"Are you ok, sister?" Mel asked gently. "Do you know where are we? I woke up and was in this comfortable bed."

"I'm ok...it was just..a dream. We're not home, and I remember falling asleep in a carriage. We must have arrived somewhere, and they moved us to here."

"I wonder where are we...?"

Lana got out from the blankets to see that she was still dirty from what went on yesterday, but she had on a light pink silk nightgown that went to her ankles. She got up and went over to the window that stood on the right wall. She slowly peeked out from behind the curtains. Outside she saw a magnificent kingdom. The town was busy with elves and other creatures. There was a gate that separated the village and the castle, and a golden brick wall surrounded the rest of the castle. "Oh my, Mel, come see this. This kingdom is very beautiful. It's an elven kingdom, I'm sure. Oh..an elven kingdom." Lana looked back to see her sister, walking toward the window. Lana's face showed worriedness and sadness. Growing up, the twins had heard stories of Elven kingdoms, how they ate humans for dinner, and if one dared to touch their ground, they would turn to ashes. The girls both knew that not all the stories were true, but some seemed true enough. Why would they be here in an Elven kingdom?

"D-do you think they were waiting for us to wake up before they ate us?" asked Melissa, briefly forgetting about the elf with the good looks.

"I..I don't think Merek would call the elves to come and help us if he knew they were bad. Remember what Father used to say? Don't judge people by a story or what they look like. Maybe elves aren't as bad as we were told." Lana shoulders relaxed more, and she slowly walked toward the small wooden door.

The door suddenly opened, nearly colliding with Lana. A young elf blinked in surprise.

"Lucas! You need to knock first! How many times have I told you to knock first?" another older and more mature female elf appeared, her eyes wide.

"I-it's ok. I was coming toward this door thinking it was a closet, is it not?" Lana didn't care about the young boy that stared at her in her nightgown.

"Lucas! Stop staring at that young lady in her nightgown. It is not right at all for a male to stare at a perfectly good virgin of high rank in her nightgown! Quick. Shoo!" cried the female elf, all in a fluster.

"It is okay, Ma'am." said Melissa curtsying.

"We don't care. For doesn't a brother see his sister in a nightgown when they live in the same room? Even though we are princesses, it doesn't make us different people from those out of this castle." Lana said, the words coming from her heart.

"Still, I have been teaching him how to properly behave around ladies. He loves to just barge into rooms not caring if they have clothes or not." protested the female elf. Lucas hurriedly left the room.

Lana tried not to giggle, "Well, do you mind showing us where the bathroom is and the closet? I think I'm overdue on getting a bath. Oh and I'm Lana."

Melissa took a deep breath, just managing to keep her laughter inside. "I am Mel." she introduced herself.

"Hello, Mel and Lana. I am Antonia. I serve the King and his house. We are honored to have you here." replied Antonia.
