Initially I was nervous at the thought of Ezekiel coming back to see me, but what was the worse that could happen? He said that he would take me to get food and bring me back home and he did just that. I was nervous but something in me trusted him. I was disappointed that he had to go but hopefully he'll make it up to me later. We didn't talk much when we were together earlier but the connection was strong. Walking into the hallway of the apartment complex I lived in I walked towards the mailbox. Checking the mail, everything was from bill collectors but one letter stood out. It was an all white envelope with my name on it "Kya Washington". My address nor a return address was on the envelope. Type of shit is this I thought. I forgot Ezekiel said that he would wait for me to go upstairs before he drove off and he was doing just that. Soon as I opened the door to walk upstairs, I heard him start his truck back up. When the door closed, he drove off. Making my way up the stairs with all this shit in my hands, I ran into the boy from the 3rd floor, his name was Jordan. I had a crush on him a while back but I didn't fuck with the people he called himself friends with nor did I fuck with the lifestyle he lived.
"You cant speak now, Kya?" I said nothing. This Jordan boy was lame as hell and only tryna fuck.
"Damn I see how it is" and with that he kept walking.
I couldn't wait to move but I knew it would be no time soon. I hated living in this building because everybody in here was fucked up. On the 2nd floor in both apartments there were crackheads. They didn't bother nobody but the thought of them being in the same building was irritating. On the 3rd floor lived Jordans lame fuckboy ass. Ughhh I hated him. 4th floor lived some old people who was always quick to call the police. Nobody knew who lived on the 5th floor because nobody ever seen them. And on the 6th me and my mom because the other apartment was abandoned. Soon as I opened the door to my moms apartment my phone started vibrating. It was Ezekiel.
"Hope you enjoyed your Chipotle" He was kinda corny I thought. Was this his way of starting a conversation? It was cute.
"I did. Thanks" Walking to my room, I started to take off my clothes and shoes.
"Good" reading his text I flopped down on my bed and got under the covers.
"I hope wherever you had to go was important."
"Trust me lil shorty if it wasn't I wouldn't have left you." I was blushing hard as hell when he said this. I didn't know what to say.
"Is That so?" I asked kinda flirting.
"Yes lil shorty" This was the only time I was okay with him calling me shorty.
"So where you taking me later so I know what to wear" Soon as I sent this text I heard my mom walk in the door. Hey ma! I had to yell a bit because my door was closed. I knew she was going straight to her room to go to sleep but she would peek in my room before then to see me. As if on cue she knocked on my door then opened it. "Hey sweetie, How ya Doin this morning?" Her voice was so soft but I could tell she was tired. "I'm good, go get some rest ma." And with that she was leaving out my room. "Ma" I called out she came back in my room. "I'm going somewhere around 7" "Okay". And with that she left again. Ezekiel hadn't responded to my text yet and it was irritating. Just then my phone started vibrating. Zzz... Zzz. Two text.
"I can't tell you where I'm taking you Bc ion even know."
"Just wear a dress or some shit"
I seriously wanted to know what he had up his sleeve but I wasn't gonna keep questioning him.
"Okay I guess"
"What's wrong Kya? You ain't Tryna dress up or something? Why did he think something was wrong?
"Wym?" I was seriously confused.
"Talkin About I guess. What that mean?"
"It's nothing. I just don't have anything dressy I guess" it was no reason to lie to him. I really didn't have any dresses or skirts. That wasn't what I liked to wear.
"It's coo, Ima come get you at 5 then"
"Okay" he didn't respond after that.
I didn't really have anything to do until 5 so I set the alarm on my phone To 4:30 Which would be in a couple hours and decided to take a nap.
