Danni's pov
"So class, today we're going to be focussing on-" before I could introduce the activity to the class I was interupted by a light knocking on the door, I turned to check who it was and I was instantly slapped by shock. The girl standing outside of the door was the same one I had been in contact with in Starbucks, just the day before. She was in my damned class which was a pity because I was hoping to see her again.
She looked terrified to say the least, she must've known that we were going to encounter again before I did. I raised a hand and gestured for her to enter the room. I guess there wouldn't be any harm in playing it clueless but I had probably already shown that I was fully aware.
She cautiously pulled the door open as if she was expecting something to run out and scare her before closing it behind her, she still stayed relatively close to it and clearly wanted to be as far away from me as possible.
"Hello." I smiled warmly at her- the way I do while greeting all of my new students. "I'm assuming you're new, name?" She looked confused before shaking her head.
"Emily Brown." So that was her name.
"You can sit-" I glanced around the room looking for a spare seat, realising the only unoccupied chair was at the front, right opposite my desk. That was going to be very uncomfortable. "Right here." I pointed to the seat and she rolled her eyes, thinking I wouldn't see. She strolled past me, her scent taking me off guard: a mixture of something sweet and flowers. I couldn't place a finger on what exactly. She slumped down into the chair and looked up at me, waiting until I continued with the class.
"If you could all finish the paired task from last lesson, that would be great." I clapped my hands together as I finshed speaking. Instantaneously, all of the students opened their folders, pulling out their jotters. I turned to look at Emily who was looking around at everyone else, uncomfortable with the situation. "Emily, can I have a word?"
Her eyes snapped up and locked on mine, making me melt on the spot. She curled her lip and then nodded. "Yeah." She stood up from behind her desk and came to stand next to me at mine.
"Well I understand that you haven't been in for the whole term, what did you want to do in terms of catch up?" I spoke in a hushed tone but lots enough for her to hear.
"What are the choices?" This time she didn't speak with malice in her voice, I was confused.
"After each lesson you could stay behind for an extra hour for one to one catch up sessions," she shifted awkwardly at that as heat rose to her cheeks. "Or you could change into a lower class that would teach you the content at a slower pace to this one but I wouldn't recommend that, I've heard great things about you," by now, her cheeks were even more flushed and flaming with embarrassment. "But you could also just try and join in and catch up." I was hoping she wouldn't choose the second or third option.
"Um. Well. I don't wanna fall behind so the catch up sessions sound cool." Her expression placid.
"Ok. Starts today." She nodded and left to go back to her desk. I couldn't help but to glance up at her, when she returned the stare I couldn't bring myself to look away.
I really liked her. I knew I did as soon as I saw her. I doubted she felt the same way considering I made the move on her, I was wrong in doing so because she was upset and vulnerable. I didn't even know how old she was. She was my student and these feelings were wrong and unprofessional.
