"So, this would be the end of today's meeting." Faaiz Hasnayn said, to which everyone nodded, shook hands, packed their dossiers and left the room. He also stood, packed his things and left the board room. On his way back to his office, he heard some murmurs which of course went dead silent immediately they saw him approach. They all went back to what they were doing, as if they weren't gossiping a while ago.
Still maintaining his expressionless face, he glared at them and they trembled slightly, they dreaded looking him in the eye. He rolled his eyes internally and headed to his office. As soon as he was out of earshot, the whispers resumed. Faaiz wondered what that was all about. Upon entering his office, he flung his exhausted form on the chair and massaged his temple gently with his fingers. He closed his eyes for a while and sighed.
He was exhausted, both physically and emotionally. He ran a hand through his neat jet black hair messing it up, he rubbed his eyes wearily and closed his eyes, savoring some moment of peace. But it was short-lived when he opened his eyes and saw a magazine, the headline caught his eyes. It read, 'MR POKER FACE IN SEARCH OF A WIFE' what the heck!!!! He scowled. Anger was an understatement, Faaiz was furious. He grabbed the nearest object he could lay his hand upon and threw it angrily on the wall, causing the poor thing to dismantle and litter around. He was fuming with rage.
How dare they?! No wonder his employees were murmuring earlier. No one dared mess with faaiz Hasnayn and go scot free, he growled. He took the telephone and barked into it at his secretary.
"IN, NOW!!" And she knew she was doomed. Aminah came in terrified. Though this was not the first time she'd seen him angry. After all, she had also seen and read the magazine. She had been anticipating this reaction ever since and had been preparing for this particular moment. But seems that wasn't enough, her boss could be a monster sometimes.
Aminah went further in, conscious of what was on the floor and rolled her eyes. 'Typical him' she thought. Faaiz saw her come in trembling slightly, he knows his workers are scared of him, Heck, who wouldn't? Especially when he's this angry. But he could care less now. He pointed to the magazine with the headline written boldly on it and scrutinized her. She wasn't surprised, he noticed, but she was still trembling. She of all people knew what he's capable of doing when angry. After all she has been working with him for the past seven years.
"Care to explain?" Faaiz sat down and muttered some words under his breath, rubbing his temples to calm himself down.
"I-I-I-dont know what this is all about sir. But I've taken disciplinary measures against them." she managed to say.
"And the ones sold out?!" He asked, his anger resurfaced.
"I-I- They said they'd do something about that."
"What could have prompted them to publish this?" Faaiz asked, puzzled. Well, as far as he was concerned, they are scared of him.
"It's still a mystery to me too. But from what I heard, someone asked them to publish it." Aminah declared.
"Are they the only company that published it?" Faaiz questioned, still unraveling the mystery.
"Fortunately, yes and from what I've gathered, other press companies are afraid to print anything. Also, it is a new company and they haven't been updated. But I've done what should be done to them and they ought to have learned their lessons." Aminah explained and he nodded.
"You can leave now." Faaiz said, dismissing his secretary. "And when I said leave, you can go home." He said without glancing at her. She smiled at his thoughfulness.
"Alright. Ma salam," to which faaiz only nodded, his mind in a state of turmoil. Aminah is already engaged and he can't vent out his anger on the poor woman. She is the only one he trusts amongst his employees, she always stood by him no matter what. Aminah abruptly stopped when she got to the door.
