Tasia Lee
I wake up with a slight headache from the lack of sleep, I yawn and check the black watch that is strapped to my wrist; five-fifteen. I was supposed to awake after fifteen minutes but decided to take a shower anyway. I get ready and wear the clothes that the agency provided us, it's literally all black. Fitting black shirt, jeans, and black boots. I slightly smile, it's been a while since I've worn new clothes; not like I can't afford them but you don't see someone going shopping during a zombie apocalypse now do you? I quickly put them on after a quick shower and head downstairs where already a few of them are gathered and talking.
"Hey, newbie." A girl bumps her shoulder lightly against me as a friendly smile played her lips "Hi" I smile back "I don't remember seeing you there yesterday" I recalled, "Oh uh yeah, I came just a few hours ago, I used to live in California." She fiddled with spiral binding in her notepad. I bobbed my head, not really sure of what else to say. "Everyone, head towards room number 48A." All I heard was heels roughly clicking the marble floor and slightly fading out.
"Come on, we will be late." The girl whines while tugging on my arm, a confused yet alarmed expression painted my face as I tried to keep up with her
She practically dragged me to a room that looked awfully similar to a hospital. "Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Jane, we are here to link you to your Trisector, but before we start, can you tell me what is a Trisector?" The lady on the platform asked us.
The room was filled with silence and confused and hesitant faces, not sure if they either heard her correctly or was she really relating this to math.
"No one? Well, the Trisector is an instrument that is going to be connected to your physical body. This object will help you survive by restoring what your body needs if used within twenty-four hours." She read out from a page she was holding since she came in. The projector changed pictures to reveal a triangle with curved edges, three holes engraved on each edge with a small line joining only two, not completing a full triangle. The two holes were red and one was green. Overall the 'Trisector' looked brass. "This is what each one of you would be having. With all the modern technology that we have been able to put together, we have been able to increase our chances of surviving, once bitten by a zombie, return with your trisector within twenty-four hours but if you don't return in about twenty-four hours to get cured, you're as good as dead." She spoke with all seriousness.
"Now I'm going to divide you into groups to make this easier" She scans the crowd and calls up two assistants, they divide us into three and go different ways. I was with the second batch so I followed the assistant instead of Ms. Jane, she took the third.
An old man, about in his late thirties greets us as he sits down on a chair. "Hello everyone, this is where you will be linked to your Trisector. Nothing big, we will just take a sample of your blood and place it on the given Trisector so no need to be scared" His gray eyes smiled lightly. If he didn't have the syringe in his hand, I wouldn't think he's insane.
"Now I'll call out names and come here at once, it'll be a matter of seconds" His voice muffled through the surgical mask he wore.
"Alex Matthews" he called out from the list.
A tall and slightly buff boy walks up and sits on the spinning chair "Nervous?" The doctor asked as he positioned the needle. "A little" he gave a tight smile and let it drop.
The needle pierced his skin as the dark, thick, red liquid filled up the tube. He quickly pulled it out and put a plaster on the mark, he dropped several drops on the green hole as the red holes started to process.
Alex kept a straight face the whole time, not even a slight flinch.
He was handed over the Trisector and return back to his seat, I figured it may take a while so I fold my arms and rest my eyes for a bit, still aware of my surroundings.
-----------------------------------------
"Tasia Lee" a voice tore through the air, I immediately stood up and walked up to the guy. I took a seat and rolled up my sleeve as I stared into the distance not looking for anything in particular. I felt the needle prick my skin, a sharp intake of breath and the pain was gone, was never really a fan of needles anyway. He did the same as he did for Alex, I'm guessing that's what's his name. When he handed me the Trisector, a feeling of warmth embraced my hands as if a welcome sign. I return to my seat as the others finish with their draining session.
Once everyone was back in place, Ms. Jane returned on the platform with a clipboard tucked under her left arm, she positions her microphone to align with her mouth. "Good morning students, as you know, I'm Ms. Jane. I control the second wing on the field, the draining session. Now, I don't care if you wished, were forced or determined to be here. This is for only warriors, survivors, and fighters. If you can't fight, you'll learn how to." she gave a pause and she kept walking across the platform, I'm actually afraid she'll cause a hole on the floor by her six inch heels. "Our first wing, 'Război', teaches everyone to fight, to survive. Our second wing, 'Drenaj', does the draining test and gives you a chance to prove yourself that you're worthy for lastly, the third wing. The last wing, 'Lumea reala', the real world, where you're set outside to fight for the country." She ended but not before wishing us luck.
