The Highway

"Vrooooom!" The roar from the red Ford Sedan came.  Terrance James' eyes flickered with excitement and rage as he pressed on the gas pedal, jolting the car 20 miles per hour faster. The night moon gleamed a silver lining of light on his dark skin. His brows furrowed with sweat as he feverishly wiped his forearm on it and focused his eyes on the road. "Just a few more minutes to the border", he thought, "..and then I'll be a free man." 

The image of the terrified middle-aged man filled his mind. His fearful eyes, trembling lip, and escaping vocals. How he had begged him not to shoot and to let him go. He remembered as he pulled out his wallet, his watch and his car keys as Terrance held the gun to his head. Terrance held the trigger harder, as he watched tears begin to fill in the man's eyes. 

"Take it, take it all! I don't want it, I won't say anything!" he said shaking and trembling.  Terrance remembered is cruel and joyful laughter as he whacked the gun to the man's temple and took her car keys.

"Sucker" he said coldly as he twirled the keys in his hands and started up the engine. The man held his head, still shaking as Terrance sped off.

He was on the way to Tacoma now, where from he would take off to the Canadian border. As Terrance recovered from his flashback, he saw something from the corner of his eye. His pupils widened as the red flashing lights came into view. The police. They were closing in on him.....
