Chapter 5: The Stranger

I woke to the sound of music being played. My sheets rustled as I moved slightly. Groaning, thinking of the terrible dream I had: being lost in a new world where every creature wanted to kill me. Shaking the dream from my head, my cheek felt the pillowcase. Cotton? More importantly Persian cotton? I didn't own that. I sighed, someone must have changed my sheets.

The music playing in the background was soft, harmonious, melodic and sweet like a pillow filled with clouds. Wait! Music? Soft and quiet? There was never a quiet moment at my house. My step-father was a pig and made me do everything in the house. My mother died when I was very young, I don't remember her much about her but I do know I miss her. Noise was always coming from the house; yelling and screaming, hitting and fighting, well my step-father did it all mainly. And music wasn't allowed in the house cause he didn't like it.

My eyes flew open and what I saw was things I'm not used to: I was in a tidy bedroom, with a set of drawers, a night stand and the bed that I was in. Memories started coming back to me, flowing faster and faster. I started to panic. Where was Breeze? I threw the bed covers off me and I went to stand but my knees gave way and I went crashing to the floor.

"You have to be careful. You just survived a dragon poison or more technically called draconem venenum. I like to call it dragon's bane due to the fact that I have to deal with people suffering it." A voice came from up in front of me. I looked up to see a young girl, about my age standing above me. She had dark brown hair that reached her hips that was tied up into a pony tail, her shinning eyes matched her hair. She wore dark blue jeans and a nerdy shirt that essentially told me she was 'brains and beauty is my combo.' She had marks on her hands. I have seen them before. Then it clicked to me that, that's what was on the hands of the dragons. I started to worry and try and back away from the girl.

"Don't panic, I'm different from the others. I promise not to poison you." The girl said, holding up her hands to try to calm me. "Look my name is Ally, all right. Okay? I may be a dragon but I'm not that kind of dragon."

I was still scared in my boots. How can i trust someone like her. Her kind just tried to kill me and Breeze. Wait! Breeze! Where was she. I looked up to Ally and i summoned up all my courage to ask.

"What have you done with Breeze?"

Ally looked down at me and stared with her shining eyes.

"You mean the girl that carried you here?"

"Yes, that girl, where is she?" I was starting to get a bit mad.

"She's fine. She is in the other room. Would you like me to take you to her"

"Please if you don't mind."

"Well then" And the most amazing thing happened, Ally suddendly transformed into her dragon form. She was one beautiful beast. Ally turned to me and miraculously words were coming out of her dragon's mouth, "Hop on."

"Are you crazy!"

"If by crazy you mean crazy. Then no, I don't think so"

"I am not getting on!"

"Well then I guess you won't see Breeze then." She got me there. I am totally scared to ride that thing? Dragon? Person? Whatever. But when it comes down to friends, I guess I have to be brave. Oh what am I kidding I can't. While I was fighting in my head I didn't see when Ally moved in my direction and the next thing I know I'm on her back. I hear a scream, wait! That's just me.

I have my eyes tightly shut, not wanting to open them.

"Open your eyes and see what your missing." Ally trying desperately to get me to open my eyes.

"No! I refuse to." I cried back.

"Its not that scary, its amazing. You can feel the wind through your hair and you can see so many beautiful things up here. Open your eyes Lulu." So naturally I stated to disagree then re-thought and slowly I opened my eyes. The sight before my eyes was one of a dreamy sight. I would never have thought that the sky could look more wonderful and bright. The colours of the sky mixed to form new shades. I looked down and I wished I didn't, we were so high up that I was sure if I fell, I defiantly wouldn't make it alive.

I was enjoying the different views of the sky when suddenly a question came to mind.

"Ally?"

"Yes"

"I thought you said that Breeze was in the next room"

"Well she is, but see you know that that in the human world, rooms as next door or down a hall. For dragons like us rooms are way to small for us. So technically our rooms are much larger."

"And by larger you mean...?"

"A good hectare away." OMG!

"Wow."

"Yeah, its large, but its home. We have our ways while everyone else has their way of living."

"Why do you seem so nice?" That seem to startle Ally. It was a long silence before she answered.

"Im different from others and but I'm not sure why." It was silence from there. A long time passed by the time Ally screamed for to me to hold on. Before i could hold on tight, she swooped down really fast. I screamed like no tomorrow. I can tell you when it comes to these things im not to good with it.

Ally suddenly pulled out of the drop and landed gently on the grass. I looked around to see where we were. To my right there was a dark forest, and slightly to my left in the distance there were grass hills but the grass was dead. The glass was black! Before i could ask Ally stated moving towards, what looked like a cave.

Ally kept moving towards it.

"Where not going in there, are we?"

"Yes that is where you friend is." Ally kept walking right into the entry of the cave.

Even on the back of Ally, it was so cold in the cave that my teeth started to chatter. Ally and I have been walking into this cave for 10 minutes now and still no signs of Breeze.

"Why did you bring Breeze her anyway."

"Because it was the only way. I couldn't keep both of you in my bed, you needed more help then Breeze did and this was the next closest place that was safe." We kept walking until we finally came to what had been a small camp place. There were burnt sticks that were lying on the ground, most likely made for a fire that was blown out not too long ago and blankets all folded neatly in a corner.

"Where is she?"

"She was here, but she has left"

"I can see that thank you, but where?"

Ally started moving towards the blankets and picked something up.

"What's that?"

"A note"

"From Breeze?" I was curious. "What's it say?" Ally read it first and then stared blankly at the note.

"What's it say?" I repeated.

"It says I need to take you to Satiness and that the only person who would know how to get to her would be Mina"

"Who? What? Where?" I was so confused.

Ally bent her neck to look me straight in the eyes. "I have to take you to wolves."
