Napoleon's Pov

"Okay," I said, "everyone split up and scatter around the room. Be prepared and watch your back."

I grabbed my gun and held it in my hand. Everyone scattered around the room. I walked through the maze with Shannon following me.

We sat down.

"What's going to happen?" She asked.

"I think we'll win," I replied.

"And if we don't?"

"Then we die," I said.

"That's reassuring," she said.

"Well don't think negative," I replied. "Never do that."

She looked down and I could tell she was crying.

"What's wrong?" I asked scooting closer to her.

"If my father had never died and I had never joined you all...none of this would be happening," she said. "I wouldn't be living in fear...I would have good life."

"That's what it's like," I said, "being a spy. It...sucks but you're going good things. But there's no bright side."

"There's a bright side to everything," Shannon replied.

"Okay," I said, "what's the bright side to this? Your parents being dead? You don't even know your real mother?Living in fear?"

"You," she said quietly.

At least I thought that's what she said. I couldn't believe that she actually said that.

"What?" I asked.

"You," she replied in a louder and more firm tone. "You're the reason I'm still here, Napoleon. You're the reason that I took this job but it just took me a long time to realize that. I'm in love with you."

I was in shock. I didn't know what to say or think.

"I love you too," I finally said.

Before she could reply or I could kiss her, a loud boom sounded throughout the room. We both stood up on the tips of our toes, looking over the maze. I could see men who were obviously on the opposing side, walking through the maze. I aimed my gun and shot a couple down. People from the other side of the room started shooting at them as well. Suddenly, a bullet shot right beside me. I jerked my head to the side and saw a couple of men a couple yards away. I shot at them, taking them all down. Suddenly the ground dropped. It literally dropped and then slanted downward. Everyone went sliding down it into darkness. And then upahead was daylight. Everyone slid onto the grass. A couple of meters away was a pond surrounded by trees.

I shot a couple of people down. Then at the front of the house, I heard a car driving away.

"No," I said.

"What is it?" Shannon asked shooting at people.

"It's a distraction," I said, "they're getting away."

"What?" She asked.

"Come on," I said, "cover for me."

We ran around to the front of the house to see a car speeding away. We stood in the middle of the road watching it drive away.

"We let them get away," I said, "how could I be so stupid..."

"It's not your fault," Shannon said, "it's everyone's fault. You didn't do anything."

"But if we let them get away," I said, "they'll come up with a better plan. They're going to hunt us down and kill all of us. But I know that isn't the reason Victoria is so obsessed with finding us...she's hiding something."

We went back around the house and fought the men, soon taking them all down. I told everyone everything. Soon we all get pretty dumb for the huge mistake we had made.
