About it:

Have you ever wondered how to write a speech? It could by any kind: Ethos, Pathos or Logos (See below.) Speeches are very important to know how to write. Presidents are required to give a speech when they are running for election and even when they are sworn into office. You need them at a young age too. For example, you could be running  for fifth grade class president; you have to convince your friends and classmates to vote for you. But how? By writing a speech of course. Words is a powerful source, use them!

Ethos (Creditbility) - Or ethical appeal. We tend to believe in people whom we respect. One of our central problems of arguementation is to project an impression to the reader that you are someone worth listening to.

Pathos (Emotional) - To persuade by appealing to the reader's emotions. Emotional appeal can effectively be used to enhance an arguement.

Logos (Logical) - To persuade by the use of reasoning. Giving reasons is the heart of an arguement.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! Do you know what the pianist said to the tightrope walker? You better C sharp or you’ll B flat! After 6 years of playing the piano, it has taught me to be calm and face whatever challenge awaits me in the future. Piano has been known to be just as “hard” as any typical sport. Yet, the level of greatness that you play the piano, depends on the amount of work and effort, you decide to put in. Kids should play the piano in addition to school and sports because it raises the chances of getting into a better college and it boosts confidence.

To begin with, we should all play the piano in addition to school and sports. According to Tom Jenson, who is a conductor of the Junior Symphony Guild in Colorado, playing the piano can help you express your feelings and emotions through the music compositions. It is a way for you to show your happiness or even your anger. Do you want the seething rage to be trapped within your body, unable to set itself free? When you’re content about something, do you want to express it, through a piano composition? The previous composers, such as Mozart or Beethoven, have created songs that have shown their emotions. For example, Beethoven wrote one of his most well-known music compositions, Für Elise, to express his devastation and anger when his girlfriend broke up with him. Even if you don’t succeed in the first try, don’t give up. With more practice and experience, you’ll improve! As Thomas Jefferson has quoted, “Nothing can stop a man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; Nothing on Earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” From that quote, you need the right mental attitude for success.

In this statistic, shows the number of people playing the piano, since the year 1861 to the year 2001. As shown, the numbers have increased, sometimes instantly or gradually over the years. But today, more children are beginning to take piano lessons, perform in recitals and compete in piano competitions all over the United States. Tom Jenson has a theory that children who succeed in playing the piano, often do well in school. His theory has been proved by others. To play the piano requires you to count the beats of the notes in each measure and to read the notes, therefore helping you enhance your math and reading skills. Also, according to the Broadway musical show performers, the piano helps enhance your creativity and cognitive skills by creating your own personal music compositions. As a result of piano playing, it has been proved by other piano players to reduce the level of stress that the child has.

The second reason to consider piano playing is the greater likelihood that you’ll be accepted into a better college if you learn to play instruments, such as the piano. According to the college boards of the top colleges in the US, they’ll think of you as one of the great  possibilities. The college boards will think of you as someone with ample knowledge on a variety of topics. As mentioned in the first main point, you can balance piano playing and sports. Imagine this: It’s the day that you begin to apply for colleges and you give them your college essay. They read over your essay, to find you are a straight A student, who is athletic and attends many clubs and teams. Yet, you have no musical background. After a decision, they reject you from that particular college and accept someone else who has some musical background. Your heart shatters and you think that everything you’ve worked for up to this day was for nothing. You regret that day when you say ‘No,’ to the piano lessons that your parents encouraged you to take.

According to this line graph, the rates of getting into a more advanced college is increasing each year, whether it’s instantly or gradually. If you dedicate yourself to an instrument and become serious about it, college boards say that you have a higher chance of getting into your college’s music program. Like Will.I.Am stated in his song, “Hall of Fame,” “Don’t wait for luck, dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourself, standing in the hall of fame.”

In conclusion, playing the piano helps boost the player’s confidence. According to pianists, such as Richard Clayderman and Lang Lang, all around the world, they all agree on one point: Piano helps boost the player’s confidence. That’s because whether you are performing in a recital or competing in a competition, you always have an audience. Performances are beneficial because you can become less shy in front of an audience, while in the same time you can meet new people! As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “We gain strength, confidence and courage by each experience in which we really stop to look in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.” Face your fears and watch your confidence soar!

After hearing this speech,  I hope that you are encouraged to begin learning and practicing the piano. Remember, piano is just as “hard” as any sport, but your level of playing will depend on the amount of hardwork and dedication that you put into it. After all, children these days should include piano playing even outside of school and sports because of the higher chances that you’ll be accepted into a better college and how it’ll enhance your confidence when performing in public. Even in the beginning, you will feel more confident in yourself because you have just handled a new skill. After your very first piano recital, you’ll see elegance in your fingers gliding across the ivory piano keys as the piece of composition comes to a close and the audience erupts into an applause. You stand up, smile and bow at the audience. You’ve just faced your fear: being in front of the audience. In conclusion, by learning to play the piano, you’ve just faced your fears and accomplished a goal that will set your future. Thank you everyone for listening to this speech.
