About it:
Have you ever seen that movie, Sleeping Beauty? What about the song from it, also named Sleeping Beauty? Did you always assume that that song was written by Disney? You are wrong. It was written by Ilyich Piotr Tchaikovsky. He was a composer during the Romanticism time period. Sleeping Beauty is considered as a ballet. Except, Disney took his idea (legally, of course) and made it into a movie. He was also well known for other two ballets: The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

Ilyich Piotr Tchaikovsky was born on May 7, 1840 in Kamsko-Votkinsk Vyatka, Russia. He lived during the time period of Romanticism. His parents wanted him to become a successful musician, so they enrolled him in private piano lessons. At age nine, he was sent to attend the School of Jurisprudence in St. Petersburg. Outside of school, he took piano lessons from the pianist, Rudolf Kundinger, whom believed that Tchaikovsky had no particular talent. Nobody, at that time, had any idea of what Tchaikovsky would become. A prominent composer. In his lifetime, he was influenced by Anton Rubinstein, who was a Russian pianist. He influenced other composers, such as: Igor Stravinsky, Rachmaninoff, Sergei Prokofiev, Richard Strauss, Elgar Holst, and Gershwin. He worked at Bolshoy Theatre, performing on the piano. He later worked at the Moscow Conservatory with Anton Rubinstein’s recommendation, until his retirement. He passed away at age 53 on November 6, 1893.
