About it:
Have you ever seen pictures or an actual volcano? Have you seen a volcanic eruption when the lava spews out of the volcano? Lava is the molten rock expelled from a volcano during an eruption. It is dangerous to be near lava as it flows down the volcano or when it spews.

Hawaii’s big island is home to some of the world’s most active volcanoes. Mt. Kilauea is only one of the volcanoes but has been erupting nonstop ever since the year, 1983. The most recent explosion was so large that the lava flowed seven miles into the ocean. Unsurprisingly, that view had attracted thousands of visitors to the area. Authorities warned the visitors to watch from a farther view. Although the lava looked like that it could be harmless, the ocean waves could crash against the rocks and spew drops of hot lava or pieces of volcanic glass.
Like all of Hawaii’s volcanoes, Mt. Kilauea has a legend. The legend was that Mt. Kilauea was home to the volcano goddess named “Pele.” Believed to be born in Tahiti, Pele was known to be one of the six girls and seven boys to be known as the earth goddess or god. According to legend, Pele exiled by her father, the creator of the Universe, and was shipped to Hawaii. At Hawaii, she began digging fire pits and volcanoes. Her sister finally caught up to her and killed her at an epic battle near Hana, on the Hawaiian Islands of Maui. After her death, Pele dug her last and final pit in the Big Island of Hawaii at the summit of the Kilauea volcano. People that worship her bring her goods to appease her. In return, she shows her appreciation by putting on some particular lava shows.
