He opened his eyes and saw a beautiful woman looking down at him. She smiled down at him as she wiped a warm cloth against his forehead. She was dressed in a long blue dress, her long black curly hair was pulled back into a fancy knot with pieces hanging down. Over her dress she wore what looked like a white lab coat. He wondered if she was a doctor, though something seemed odd about that. He wasn't sexist or anything, he was for women being equal to men, but it was very hard for a woman to become something like a doctor. She looked down at him with golden colored eyes. He had never seen such a beautiful woman. Her skin was pale and looked very cold. He wanted to shiver when her fingers touch his bare chest where she wiped a cloth across it, but held back. He looked down to see he was wearing nothing but his pants and his chest was covered in blood. Somehow though he knew it wasn't his, though the headache told him he was probably injured."How are you feeling?" She spoke, a heavy english accent rested on her voice, he found that he thoroughly enjoyed the sound of it. He watched as she took the bowl of water and dumped it into a basin near the door to the room he was in. She took the pitcher that was sitting near it and pour some more water into the bowl she was using to clean his body.
"Better" He sat up slowly as she came back over to him. He touched his head feeling a gash on his forehead, that she had stitched up. He took the moment to look around him. He was in a bedroom that was painted a light shade of green, the floor was wood. The dresser and the night stand were the same color wood and the bed he rested in had a blue bed cover and he assumed the sheets were probably blue or white. It hurt his head too much to move it, so he didn't bother to look down. "How long was I out and what happened?"
"A few days" She responded quietly as she began to wash the blood off his chest some more. He made a small hissing noise as the hot water hit his skin. She pulled the cloth away quickly. He had been unconscious so the temperature of the water made no different but now that he was awake it did. His skin was ice cold so the hot water would definitely make him hurt. "You were attacked, by vampires, they didn't kill you, which i must say I am actually surprised."
"What?" His tone was calm, even, but weak, he was growing weaker the longer he went without blood, or so she assumed as she watched his face get paler. She was half human so normally she was able go days without blood as she is capable of being sustained on human food as well, but she would grow weak if she doesn't drink it ever so often. . "So what? Am I dead?"
"No," She laughed softly and he found he liked the sound of her laughter. On top of the he found he loved being with her, even though he had just met her. He hadn't felt like this before, yes he had girlfriend's but none of them had elicited this kind of response in him. "You're not dead, you were changed, the venom was in your blood far longer than I thought, I couldn't save you from turning."
"You tried to save me?" He watched her as she finished cleaning the blood off his chest. He looked down to realize just how pale he was, he also found he was becoming quite uncomfortable being half naked in front of this woman. He knew if he had a heart beat, which he assumed he didn't, that it would be pounding in his chest."Am i this pale from loose of blood"
"Well, yes, but also because you are now a vampire." She said to him. She noticed how uncomfortable he was becoming with her seeing him with a shirt on. Then again, she had become used to seeing men without a shirt, she was a doctor, one of the few female doctors in the world during this time. "Before we continue it would be a lot easier to talk if I knew your name."
"Carlisle" He spoke softly, though he was very confused, he was trying his best to remain calm. It would do him no good to go crazy, though inside that's all he wanted to do. He wanted to scream, to run away from all this and pray it hadn't happened, pray none of this was real. Praying never helped though, as the son of a pastor he should have had more faith, but he had faith in what he could see and right now he had faith in this woman standing in front of him. The one who had helped him, the one who was continuing to help him.
"I am Tavia" She bowed her head in response as she gave him her name. She watched him smile. "I'll be right back." She left the room. He sat up more slowly so his feet were hanging over the edge. In a chair, neatly folded were some clothes that looked to be about his size. He carefully got dressed before she came back in the room carrying what looked like a glass of red wine. She smiled as she saw him dressed and standing near the dresser by the door. "Ah you have gotten dressed, I hope the clothes fit alright."
"Yes, thank you" Carlisle smiled at her. She had a beautiful smile and he suddenly felt so inadequate standing in the room standing next to such a beautiful creature. Not that he would describe her as a creature, she was a woman, a very attractive woman.
"This is for you" Tavia handed him the cup. He took it cautiously. "It's animal blood, I wasn't sure if you'd drink human blood. But if you are going to survive, if you want to get stronger, you are going to need to drink it. If you don't think you can drink human blood, I can teach you to hunt only animals, but the smell of human blood is hard to resist when you are... newborn"
"Newborn?" Carlisle had so much to ask, so much he wanted to know. His curiosity always got him in trouble with his father, as well as with his religion, not that he was sure he believed anyway
"Newborn is what we call vampires who had just been turned. In the first year a vampire is at their strongest, but they are usually very hard to control, they will feed on anything and everything." Tavia watched as he took the cup and put it to his lips. He took a sip. It wasn't the best thing he's ever tasted, but he found that he actually didn't mind the taste. "why don't you drink that, maybe take a bath, there's fresh water in the basin and then get some rest, once you have done that we can discuss this more. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. I'll be downstairs in the kitchen when you've awoken, come find me and I'll give you the answers you seek"
"thank you" Carlisle smiled softly at her. She smiled again before cleaning up the supplies she used to help him and left the room. She closed the door behind him softly leaving him to himself.
A bath sounded nice. He stripped off the clothes he had put on and sank into the basin. He leaned his head back and closed his eyes. It had been a long few weeks, actually he didn't know how long it had been, but however long it had been it felt like forever. He was glad that Tavia had found him though, she was willing to help him through this, another thing intrigued him. He had just been turned into a vampire, but a part of him was lured to her, to her blood, which should be unusually since she was also a vampire, unless there was a part of her, she wasn't sharing. That was a question he would have to ask her later. Right now he could feel himself drifting into a nice deep sleep. He feel asleep in the tub feeling better, well as better as he could considering the circumstances.
