Thankgiving

A week in this house and it's been okay. I met Aunt Tammy's husband, Uncle Timmy. I know right, Tammie and Timmy.

They're both cool people. Aunt Tammie works for the government at SS and Uncle Timmy is a solider. That's scary, but he's home today for thanksgiving.

This is gonna be so weird because this day is supposed to be filled with family and thankfulness, but the only thing I can be thankful for is that I'm alive, but with this amnesia I rather not.

I hobbled down the flight of stairs and heard Aunt Tammie talking. "Hey,doll. Happy thanksgiving! I was wondering if Chanel...."

I zoned out once I heard the name that echoed in my head

"Destiny, Destiny come on!" This little girl said to me pulling my arm. "Nellie where are we going. Mommy said don't go too fair." "Shhhh it's a secret." She said to me with a smirk on her face. I could tell for some reason I trusted her. "Destiny, this will be our secret hide out. It's the super secret fort for best friends. Promise me that we will be best friends and never tell anyone about this." "Cross my heart!" "Hope to die?" "Stick to pencils in my eye!" We laughed and hugged each other. "Besties forever"

I opened my eyes to see Aunt Tammie and Uncle Timmy above me, both looking worried. "Can I help you?" I didn't mean to get smart but I still barely know these people. "Ohhhh! You're okay!" Aunt Tammie cried out while embracing me. "What happened?" "You fell down the steps and was unconscious. We were just worried."

This is the third time I blacked out like this. Should I tell them what happened? Nahh, it's fine.

"So today's thanksgiving, right? What are we having. Who's coming over?" Why did I ask like I know the people.

"Well, it's gonna be your uncle and I, and a couple of your close friends and family members."

I sat in my room watching until dinner was ready. I heard a the door open a number of times but I paid it no mind.

Hmm, I've been in this room a week, but I haven't really looked around. I examined the room and noticed it were three doors in here. The door to the hallway, the closet, but what's that other door? I hobbled over to it and began to open it until I heard Aunt Tammie call me. "Coming!" I sigh and began to hobble down the steps. I'm so glad I only have a week left with this damn cast on.

When I got down stairs everyone greeted me. I shyly waved at all of the strangers. Aunt Tammie went around and introduced me to everyone. It was kind of weird for the other person, I could tell but I was cool with it.

"Now Destiny, mingle as I finish up dinner."

Why did she say that so freely. Whatever, I guess I got this.

I looked around and saw a familiar face. The girl from the flash back I had. What was her name ??? Uhhh Chellie? Kellie? No, Nellie.

I limped over to her to speak. "Nellie?" She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "Dest, you remember me?" "Uhh, I remember your name and uh something about best friend and uhh..." before I could finish she hugged me super tight. I didn't know what to say or do so I just stayed there.

"Dinner's ready!!" thank God for Aunt Tammie.

We all sat around the table as Uncle Timmy began to speak. "Good evening everyone and happy Thanks giving. Before I say prayer we will do go around the table and say everything we are thankful for. I'll start. I'm thankful for my beautiful wife and family. For my friends who could and couldn't make it and for God giving us another day to worship him." Everyone else's thankfulness list was similar to uncle Timmy's then came me. "Um, I'm thankful for.......being.....alive." Those words pierced me sharp in my heart after I digested the meaning. "I... I can't" I got up and left, as I was close to the steps I felt a hand grab me, I looked back and it was uncle Timmy. "Let me go!" He didn't so I kicked him right where the sun don't shine and hobbled as fast up the steps as I could. I ran into my room and opened that mysterious third door where it was a dance room. I locked the door , sat in the middle of the floor and cried.
