Brace Yourself

Hali's pov:

She holds out the pictures and I can't believe my eyes. How could this happen?!

I take the X-rays into my hand and see 2 broken ribs. "You see Hayes' ribs are broken in half. He must have done a lot of moving around, crashing, falling or even hitting something for this to happen. Does anyone have any idea what would have caused this?" The one Dr. asks. "Well we were on the boat a couple days ago and we were tubing and wake boarding. Hayes got thrown off of the tube and wiped out on the wake board." Nash says.
"That could have possibly done it." She says. "Also Hayes is sleeping but you guys are allowed back there." She smiles and walks away. I run to the room and burst threw the door. I see there's room on the bed so I climb in and cuddle up to him. He's not like in a coma so he wraps his arms around me and puts his head in my neck. "Relationship goals." Ari smiles. I sadly smile and kiss Hayes' forehead. I hear my phone go off and it was Jaylen.

Jay💚: hey gurl, u ok?

Hali🖤: I'm holding up I haven't found out anything that happened to him yet. Just that he broke two ribs.

Jay💚: aww, well if it helps u, I'm omw.

Hali🖤: aww, can't wait to see u too.

I set my phone on the little table on the side and I see Nash crying. I get up and hug him. He pulls me to his lap and hugs me tighter. "Trash it's going to be okay." I laugh a little. "It's just this is the second time something major has happened to him and what if he doesn't recover from this? I may say I hate him but really I love that little fucker." He cries. I get off of him lap and pull him up to the bed Hayes is on.
I like Hayes. "Hayes. Babe wake up." I keep poking his cheeks. He mumbles something and opens his eyes. "Now tell your brother you'll be okay." I smile. He looks at Nash and sits up a little. "Nash. I'll be fine. I don't know what's wrong but it feels like I broke a rib. But it's not like it won't heal." He smiles and grabs Nash's hand. Nash smiles and sits back down. I hear a knock on the door and open it seeing Jaylen. She brings me into a hug. "Hey, hey, hey he'll be okay. And if he dies Ill personally pull his soul and drag him back to his body." (Prolly not word for word but it's something like that) She laughs. I laugh too and we break apart. "Thanks, but just know I'm holding you up to that."
    I get back into bed with Hayes we look at each other. "How's your stomach?" I ask frowning. "It's okay. It doesn't feel great but it doesn't feel like it did in the car." He says. "I hated hearing you cry. Legit it broke my heart." I tear up again. He kisses my forehead and pulls me on his stomach. I quickly get off of him. "What are you doing?" He asks. "They haven't told you?" I raise an eyebrow. "No what?" Worry scatters across his face. "Weeelllll... you have two broken ribs." I say looking down. "Well then." Hayes says holding his stomach.
   The door opens again and the doctor that had the X-rays come in. "Hi Hayes how you feeling?" She asks. "Like shit." He simply says. I throw my hand over his mouth and he licks my hand. That brought back a dirty memory but it was hot hearing him moan. Okay woah woah. Hali get your head out of the gutter.
    "Well we are going to wrap you up and we're going to give you a brace so you won't mess up any other rib. Also some pain meds to get rid of the pain and some Advil so you don't keep throwing up." Hayes nods. "Um ma'am? When he threw up the second time it was all blood. Did you maybe know what caused that?" I asked. "Yes. So the lower rib was pushing up against your stomach line. It's nothing major but that rib bone is no longer pushing against your stomach so we don't have to do surgery." She states. I nod and thank the Lord. "You'll be release in an hour." She says and walks out. "Does anyone know her name?" "Yeah it's Dr. Holly." Hayes says and Laura his head on my shoulder.

We leave after they wrap him up and give him the brace. Dr. May told him he only needs to wear it when we go to sleep. "Guys I just want to say thank you for coming. Especially Jay. Thank you." I hug her tight. "It was no problem. I know how you feel. I mean when Dylan broke his collar bone doing a layup and tripping over air." She laughs. I see Nash tense up. I look over at Jaylen and kinda twitch my head towards Nash. "I'll tell you later." She mouths. Ari and Hayes at talking and I'm surprised because she was crying all day. Worse than I was. I walk up to them and give Ari a big hug. Those two have been besties ever since the first day of 6th grade. Also the first day Chelsea and I moved here. "Thank you." I whisper in her ear. "No problem kiddo. My other besties needs me around, I'm gonna be there." She smiles. "Well we're gonna get back and go to sleep. We'll see you later Jay. Again thank you for coming." I smile and help Hayes to the car. Nash and Ari following. We head home and as soon as we walk in I help Hayes up to our room. I take off my clothes and get into some shorts and one of Hayes' sweatshirt. "Here babe. You gotta put this on." I hand him the brace. It's not the typical hard brace. It's a brace that wraps around your body and you tie it in the back to keep your waist and chest area in place.
I tie in on him and we fall asleep. Tomorrow is gonna be fun with my couple of friends. Let's just hope nothing goes wrong.
