The Meeting

I couldn't believe I was about to meet Adam Gontier. He's been my favorite singer since he was in Three Days Grace. Now he was in the band Saint Asonia and I had VIP tickets. My friend Lisa and I stood waiting for the doors to open. There was a long line of people also waiting to be let in. The cool air of fall blew against my face as it made me shiver from the coolness and from the nervousness of meeting the band. How much longer already? I kept searching the crowd to see the fans that were also waiting. One, in particular, notices me glancing at him and smiled. I glanced away not smiling back but he walked up to me and introduced himself. "Hi. I'm Batman. You seem cold. You should have brought a jacket. Here you can use mine. I'm not using it." The guy was an inch or two taller than me. Short black hair and dark brown eyes. "Batman? Your name is Batman?" I asked in disbelief. "Don't believe me?" He asked with a smirk on his face. "Well no. I don't." He shrugged and folded his arms across his chest as we waited. "This is my friend Lisa. My name is Renee. Nice to meet you Batman." I said still in disbelief that his name was Batman. "Nice to meet both of you. You shouldn't be here by yourselves. Concerts can get wild. I should know. I'm the reason it gets wild. If you see a mosh pit its because I started it. It's not safe for two females to be alone." He said with male pride. "Let me guess. We need you to be our protector." I sarcastically said. "Why not? Do you need proof? Here I'll show you." Before I could stop him he removed his black Saint Asonia t-shirt and was pointing at the bruises he had. "I got this just the other day. Some guy stabbed me with his elbow." He turned around with his back facing us and written in black ink was the name Batman. "Wow!! Those looked like they were painful. Nice tattoo Batman." He turned back to face us smiling. "Thanks, and it was painful." As he put his shirt back on the door open and the guy said for us to show him our I.D. and ticket as we went in one by one. I showed him my I.D. and ticket and was allowed inside. I waited for Batman and Lisa as the excitement was overwhelming me. "I can't believe it's finally happening.!! I'm going to meet Saint Asonia!!" I said excitedly as Lisa agreed. We went by the stage to watch rehearsals. The band wasn't out yet but they would be at any moment. "I don't know what the big deal is. I only got VIP tickets so I can get in early. That's how you get a good spot." Batman proclaimed. Then it seemed like the world stop. Saint Asonia came out to rehearse and the last one to come out, walking towards the mic, was Adam. One look at him and I lost my breath. I had to remember how to breathe as Adam spoke into the mic. "Thanks for coming by and visiting with us. We'll rehearse and then come down to sign and take pics with everyone. The first song we'll rehearse is Even though I Say." The band started to play as Adam's voice carried the song with intense emotion. "And even though I say, I'm sorry I'm this way. And even though I changed, people will stay the same. And even though I don't play, I've become fair game. And now you're looking at me like I'm the cause of your living hell. Just take a look at yourself." After rehearsing the song Adam talked into the mic. "Anyone wants to ask a question?" Before anyone could utter a word Batman yelled, "Hey Adam!! Why did you leave Three Days Grace? Did they kick you out of the band or something?" I couldn't believe he asked that. Adam laughed, "That will never get old. I left the band. I needed a fresh start. I felt my time with Three Days Grace was coming to an end. I started my solo career but after a writing session with Mike we decided to form the band Saint Asonia and that's why were here today. The next song we'll rehearse is Better Place." After the song they sang Let Me Live my Life. I sang along with Lisa as we stood together. I think Batman wanted to start pushing people but remained by my side as the song ended. "Now we'll come down for the meet and greet." "OMG!! I can't believe this is happening." I said out loud to myself. "Then why get VIP? You meet the bands if you get VIP. I still don't know what the big deal is." Batman replied as Saint Asonia came down to meet the fans. I fixed my long black hair to make sure it was in place. Also arranging my blue and black long-sleeved butterfly sweater into place as I removed the jacket Batman let me borrow. I loved butterflies. I had a similar butterfly tattoo on my wrist like Adams tattoo. I was wearing my dark blue eyeshadow to go with my outfit. Some people said I looked and dressed goth but I just love dark colors. I saw Adam a few feet away and started to walk with Lisa and Batman to meet him. The closer I got the more nervous I felt. What was I going to say? There was a group of people waiting to meet Adam but little by little we got closer until we were next. Batman walked in front of me. "Hey Adam!! Can you sign my shirt?" Adam took his marker and signed Batman's shirt. Batman then moved causing me to be right in front of Adam. I looked up and saw the sky or was it the ocean? He was tall. His eyes locked with mine and I felt some kind of awareness. Something like deja vu. I never felt something just by gazing into someone eyes. This was crazy. Batman introduced me since I went into shock. "This is Renee and Lisa. They're both fans of yours." Lisa gave him her cd to sign and I did the same. He gazed down at me and smiled as he handed my cd back. "Do you want to take a pic?" I nodded as I handed Batman my phone. I went to Adam's left side and Lisa took his right. He put his arms around us as we posed for the pic. Batman took the pic and Adam extended his hand. I shook it and felt a shock. I wasn't sure if it was just me or if he felt it too. He stared at me for a minute then shook Lisa's hand and then Batman. We walked away to let the other fans take their turn. I stare at my hand in disbelief. "I touched Adam Gontier."
