Chapter Six
The rest of the week, I stayed at Ben's all day while he went to work. He did offer for me to come, but I told him that I wanted to stay behind. I really did, too. I wanted time to adjust into my new life to come. I needed to start thinking on education again, and a job. I didn't want Ben to feel like I was a mooch.
I was taking a nap, perfectly asleep, when I got scared almost to death.
"BOO!" Ben whisper/shouted into my ear.
I shrieked, falling off the couch I had been so comfy on.
Ben was laughing.
"Hey!" I snapped. "That wasn't funny!"
"Just a little." Ben is still laughing.
"Well Mr. Meanie, is there a reason why you woke me up?"
"Actually yes, I'd like to take you out..." He blushes a little, trailing off.
"Li-like on a date?" I stutter my words, I am honestly stunned.
"Yes... I guess..." He runs his hand through his hair, waiting for a response.
"L-like as friends? Or more?"
Ben looks at me, not responding with words. I can see in his eyes that he wants it to be more than friends. I can't complain, I do admit that our kiss the other day had a spark.
With what I see in his eyes, I respond, "I'd love to, Ben. Just let me get ready, what time?"
A smile forms across his face, "Be ready by seven, please."
I nod and walk to the bathroom. It was amost six, so I had plenty of time.
I undressed and run the water. Once it's the prefect temperature, I hop in. I try to shower quickly, and shave in the process. I get out of the shower and wrap myself I a warm, fuzzy towel.
I exit the bathroom and enter my room.
I dress in regular coloured skinny jeans, a pale pink shirt, and black and white keds. I blow dry my hair, comb it, and let it flow. I put on light make up: strawberry chapstick, clear lipgloss, and some mascara. I grab Ben's—now my—jacket and take a look in the mirror.
My hair is naturally fairly straight, but today it's wavy. The light outfit I'm wearing is making my eyes appear lighter. My make-up doesn't overpower my face, just highlights it.
I put on the jacket in my arms and check the time.
6:57
Perfect, just in time.
I walk out of the bedroom and into the living room.
When I see Ben, I'm stunned. He looks amazing. Well he always does.
I'm mainly stunned by the shirt he's wearing: the purple shirt of sex from Sherlock.
"The...purple shirt..." I faintly whisper, I'm sure he didn't hear me.
"Ready for the best night of your life?" Ben asked me.
I nod my head.

I honestly could never have guessed where Ben was taking me. That is, until I saw the rides. He was taking me to a carnival.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!
Was all my mind could keep thinking. I hadn't been to a carnival since I was little, when my dad took me. My mum had been God knows where, so my dad decided to celebrate—unfortunately, Mum came back two days later and we never went again.
Ben parked and we went to the entry and paid. We got into the carnival and happy memories started returning to me. This was the best date ever.
"What would you like to do first?" Ben asked me.
"How about some games?"
Ben nods and we walk over to a dart game. I shoot three darts and only hit one balloon. I frown, no prize.
Ben sees this and shoots four more darts. He pops a balloon with each throw, hitting four more balloons. Five balloons means a medium prize.
The man running the game tells us to take a prize, he motions to the medium marked ones. Ben grabs a soft, tan teddy bear and hands it to me. I hug the bear, it'll now always be a reminder of him.
"A different game?" I ask, loosening my grip on the bear.
"Sure."
We walk over to another game. It's that game where you throw or toss or slide a quarter and have to land directly inside the lines. We both toss two quarters. My first quarter slides right off the table. My second quarter lands right on a line. Both of Ben's land almost between the lines, but not quite.
Oh well, it was fun.
We walk in no particular direction. We talk about ourselves, we get to know each other. I tell him about my life growing up, and the story behind my love for carnivals. Ben talks about his childhood, his career, and how he got to where he is today. We even talk about small details—like our favorite colours, music, TV shows, all that sort of stuff.
We walk by concessions. I realize I haven't eaten in a while. So Ben and I get nachos to share, and we each get cotton candy and a drink.
We sit down at a table near the ferris wheel. We eat and talk more. Eventually the conversation got so random that I forgot what it started with.
It was now getting dark, and a little chilly. It was getting late, so we were probably going to leave soon. So I decided on something to keep us there a little longer. A night like this, needed a fantastic ending.
"You know what we should do? Ride the ferris wheel."
Ben laughed lightly, "That sounds wonderful."
I smiled and grabbed his hand and ran to the ferris wheel line. It was fairly short currently, so we would be able to get on the next ride. People started lining up behind us. Until now, we hadn't be in any crowds—which was a little odd, considering our shipping trip a few days ago. But it was nice.
The people previously on started coming off and the line started forward. The ferris wheel was huge, but we did end up being the last people on.
I held my bear, and sat close to Ben. As we got up higher, it got colder. I hugged my bear close to me, I started shaking. I scooted closer to Ben; he put his arm around me. He was trying to warm me up; the jacket I was wearing was thin enough that the farther we got up, the less it worked.
We reached the top of the ferris wheel and it suddenly stopped. It was now dark outside and I could see the whole carnival, lit. It was breathtaking. I looked Ben in the eyes; he was even more breathtaking.
I stared into his aquamarine eyes. I knew then that this was a perfect moment. To make it even more perfect, I was going to kiss him.
He started leaning in though, before me. I leaned in after, inching my face to his. We closed the space between us. We closed our eyes and leaned in farther.
Our lips met.
At first, it was nice and soft, then it deepened. Soon, we were making out. Then the ferris wheel started moving again, and we slowly separated.
Best way to end a perfect night.
~~A/N: Yea, a little corny, I know, but I love it xD
