"Oh no no no, Emma not on the first day!" I whisper yelled at myself, running to the office. I was late. For my first day of work. In one hand I had a cup of coffee, in the other hand, a huge stack of papers. As I went to open the door, all the papers dropped. Some landed on the ground beneath me, and others flew away from the cool breeze. "You've got to be kidding me!" I yelled, practically throwing my coffee a mile away from frustration.

"Having a bad day?" I turned my head to see one of the other officers on the team. Humphrey Goodman, I believe his name was.

"Yes," I sighed, dropping my head.

"Can't get worse, can it?" He asked with a slight chuckle, stepping forwards to help me pick up the remaining papers on the ground.

"Thank you," I let out a sigh of relief.

"You must be new," he mentioned, handing the papers to me.

"Yes, I'm Emma," I smiled, offering my now free hand.

"Humphrey," he gave me a toothy grin in return as he accepted my gesture. "I've always liked the name Emma. It's quite funny actually. The name Emma sounds like M- Ah! As in there's 2 Ms and Ah- who am I kidding I sound stupid now don't I?" He rambled on, making me giggle slightly.

It wasn't until then did I get a good look at Humphrey. His hair was dirty blonde, and wasn't too short or too long. His eyes and his lips crinkled in the smile. His hand shoved into his coat pocket, considering it was quite a chilly day. To add on top, he had beautiful blue eyes, just like the ocean.

We walked to the station and he held the door for me as we walked in.

"Late!" One of the officers, who I could tell had a French accent by that one word, said as we walked in.

"Oh shut it Florence!" Humphrey huffed, leading me away to a workspace I could sort the papers at. "Do you need any help?" He asked me as I put the papers down. I looked up at him.

"Oh? U-uh yes please!" I stuttered, mentally slapping myself afterwards.

"What're these papers for anyways?" Humphrey asked me, picking up a small booklet folded together. I opened one of my drawers and took out a stack of empty organization files and dividers, then walked over to the filing cabinet and opened the top two drawers. After I'd done that, I looked over my shoulder and raised an eyebrow at Humphrey, who only put his hands up in defence.

"Files?" I laughed, which made him do the same. Then he snorted, which seemed to really embarrass him, so I just giggled a bit.

After our first 20 minutes of sorting, I'd already screwed up. I was holding all the Ms upside down and now the Ws had nowhere to go.

"Why does this always happen? I'm so clumsy and I'm so disorganized!" I wailed, virtually on the edge of tears. I sank down in my spiny chair and pressed two fingers to the bridge of my nose, my mouse blonde hair coming down to cover my face. Humphrey only sighed and walked over to me. He kneeled down in front of me, and got me to look at him.

"Look, its only your first day. You don't need to be so stressed! We're all here and glad to help you no matter what, and we all make mistakes so stop blaming yourself. You're human, it happens," he assured me. I gave him a small smile of gratitude and just sighed, nodding my head and then standing up with him. "How about this, since you've been having a rough day so far, how about you come back to my shack and we can have some dinner tonight, yeah?" He asked me. I nosing with a grin, about to give him a hug but then stopping myself before it was too obvious.
