7 months. For 7 months you'd been dating the boy with the ridiculously blonde hair. The boy who was so blond that when he was turned into a ferret last year, his fur was white. It was great at first, really- it was! Holding hands, sneaking out of class for a kiss, practicing magic during your spare hours together. But summer had kept you apart as Draco's family had gone on a vacation to Taiwan, and you were unable to visit him from your part of the country before they had left. So, needless to say, you were excited to see him on the Hogwarts express. Unfortunately, you hadn't managed to find him on the train, but you were determined to find him before entering the castle. 

But there was one slight problem. 

The air was getting colder and you could no longer feel your toes. You'd been waiting for nearly an hour, and god knows where he was. By this point you realized you needed to get going before there were no more carriages to take you to the castle. You sadly trudged into the carriage and sat down gently, alone by yourself. You'd got to thinking in that time spent travelling the quiet forest by yourself. 

You thought about the passed few months being with Draco.  He was good to you, he made sure you got everything yo could ever desire.

...at first. 

By the time summer rolled around the corner, you could tell something was off. He stopped smiling as much around you, and it seemed the only time he ever smiled before was around you. It worried you, but when you tried to ask about it, he'd say he was fine and shake his head, plant a soft kiss atop yours, and be done with the conversation. 

It bothered you so very much. By the time summer came to pass, he barely spoke to you. Yes, he was on a trip, but you couldn't help but suspect there was no trip. After all, the Malfoys were known for their obnoxious abundance of family portraits in all the places they'd visit, and you had yet to see this one. Recently you had been drifting- for Merlin's sake, he hadn't even sent you a single letter over the summer! 

When the carriage finally stopped, you hopped out and followed the small crowd of lates to the great hall where you were sure you'd see Draco seated at a table. Sure enough, when you entered there he was, surrounded by friends and laughing reluctantly at a joke that no doubt Pansy had cracked about Potter. You eyed the conversation and saw there wasn't much space around him, and feeling sorry for yourself you sulked away to a scarcely crowded end of the table to sit in solitary. He hadn't even noticed your absence. 

Your gaze traveled to your boyfriend, who had begun speaking himself. You looked at his robes on his body, saw how it was so close to him and you weren't. Must be nice to be his clothes. 

After snapping out of your wandering thoughts, you noticed Draco's gaze has fallen upon you. He looked sad. When your eyes met, neither of you blinked, and it wasn't until a minute later did he avert his eyes to continue his conversation with his friends. Your head shook softly and you looked down at your hands clenched together on the table. You chuckled to yourself for just a moment, thinking of how you used to be his only priority, but not now. 

Now, you were second to none even at his worst. You found yourself craving him putting you first, just once more.

You rose to your feet before you had realized, and followed your feet wherever they may have been taking you. Without warning you were in your dorm room. You rushed to the bed and immediately, you fell dramatically with a loud sob. Better to get it out now before your roommates came to find you- or worse, Draco. As much as you tried to convince yourself that he would come searching for you, you knew it was too good to be true. A part of Draco- the part that loved you- was fading. And it terrified you.
