Miles POV
I think the pain killers they gave me are making me go crazy. I can't believe I for real just told her that. She seemed shocked I had said that I was sorry but then the tears started streaming again so I was very confused, however, except this time she wasn't upset, instead she seemed...relieved? The tears were happy tears maybe? Chicks are confusing.
And then after all that she just got up and left. I waited a few minutes and then wheeled my way out into the hallway also. I didn't feel like going to lunch quite yet so I just roamed the hallways again.
Emerson's POV
All I can think about is what Miles had said. He finally said he was sorry. The more I think about what he said the more surprised I become. Maybe he was worn out and he said it by accident. Maybe he didn't mean to say it aloud. but he did. I didn't want to overthink it too much so I decided to focus on my food instead. I'm not fond of lasagna but I need to fill my stomach with something so I munch on the school lunch anyways. The breadstick and marinara sauce is good but the lasagna tastes like shit. The cheese isn't even all the way cooked through.
"I just can't believe you actually pushed Miles down the stairs!" Kassie tells me in a surprised voice. I shrug my shoulders in response and take a swig of my chocolate milk. "He had it coming," I say to Cassie and she rolls her eyes. She continues to ask me questions about the incident until I tell her that I need to go to the bathroom.
I take my tray of half-eaten food and dump the leftovers into the trash can. I give my tray to the lady washing a multitude of them and head out of the cafeteria doors. I didn't actually have to go to the bathroom, I just didn't feel like talking about Miles anymore. Today is my last day of not having Miles in all of my classes so I decide to take advantage of it. I stroll through the halls and enter the classroom of my upcoming class. I'm very early but I didn't mind.
I don't know if what Miles said was true, however, I did know one thing. It's time for me to get my badass reputation back and this time it's gonna stay that way. This is the last time I let someone walk all over me and get away with it.
