I jolt awake to the unusual scent of bacon and eggs wafting through my room. "Em, wake up it's your first day back so I made real food!" Easton shouts with excitement. I chuckle and begin to stretch out my sore arms. Crutches do a number on your arms especially when you're not allowed to put any weight on one of your legs. Easton hands me my crutches and we both head down the stairs to the kitchen.

"Wow E you've impressed me, I thought you only knew how to burn pop tarts," I tell him with a chuckle. "Haha very funny." He says with a straight face and hands me a plate of bacon and eggs. We both plop onto the living room couch and scarf down the delicious breakfast. Once I finish he takes my plate to the sink for me and I hobble back upstairs to change into clothes for school.

I hobble over to my closet and pick out a pair of jean shorts and a burgundy tank top. I grab my leather jacket and some burgundy Vans to match. I change into the outfit and check to see how it looks in the mirror. "Hmm, it's missing something," I mutter to myself and glance around my room to see if anything catches my eye. My eyes instantly land on Jeremiah's baseball cap hanging on one of my bedposts.

I hobble over and grab it. I situate the cap on my head until I like where It's placed and start to gather up my two weeks' worth of completed homework and shove it in my bookbag. I hear my phone buzz over on my desk and hobble over to find a text message from...Asher? "How did he get my number?" I question myself and unlock my phone to read the message.

Asher - Good morning sweetheart, I won't be able to pick u up for school this morning so hopefully Easton can take you instead? :)

Easton had already left for school so I couldn't have him take me. I quickly text back a reply telling him that it was fine and slip my heavy bookbag onto my shoulders. I crutch down the stairs and throw my book bag beside the front door deciding that I didn't need to go to school today. I settle onto the couch and start to scroll through Instagram on my phone.

A few minutes later I hear someone honking their car horn outside. I scuttle over to my window and find Jeremiah leaning against his car spinning his keys around his finger. I take a look at his car and almost faint. I have never really been a fan of red cars until now. I feel my phone buzz in my hand look down to see who it is.

Jeremiah - Hey sunshine, I'm waiting for yah out here ;)

I smile at the text and wonder how he also got my number. I will have to figure this out later. I grab my book bag, hobble out the front door, and make my way down the porch steps over to Jeremiah and decide to copy him. I carefully lean against his gorgeous sports car and ask, "And just why is Mr. Jeremiah at my house in my driveway?"

He glances at me, "Cause I want to take Sunshine to school rather than Asher." He mumbles in annoyance. I chuckle, "Awe is Jeremiah jealous?" His face starts to redden but he turns around so I can't see. "No I'm not jealous, now let's go before we're late." He helps me into the passenger seat before he hops into the driver's side and revs the engine. I feel my whole body involuntarily melt at the sound of his engine. He pulls out of the driveway and zooms towards Edgewood High.
