Lucy's POV
Griffon had rushed me straight to Oceanum. With her tentative care and watchful eyes, she was able to heal my wounds and discovered what had caused my condition to worsen.
I had Griffon bring the Fairytail members to my chambers the next morning.
"I sincerely apologize for the gruesome scene that unfolded yesterday in the hallway. It is apparent to me now that we have even less time than I previously thought." I began.
One of the servants in the corner had been waiting for my signal. I waved her over and she presented the group with a large metal basin.
"This," I said, gesturing to the dish, "is why we must hurry."
Mira reached into the container and pulled out one of the long, sharp, black objects.
Wendy tilted her head.
"Are those..." she trailed off.
"Fingernails?" Erza asked.
"From what we've interpreted, yes. Those are indeed fingernails that once belonged to some sort of magical being."
Mira dropped the dark object back into the pan with a metallic clang, before discreetly wiping her hand on the back of her dress.
Gajeel was the next to speak.
"What do they have to do with the mission?"
"Well for starters," Griffon said, "those are what we pulled out of Lucy's arms yesterday."
The eyes of the wizards surrounding Lucy's bed widened.
"The magical barrier that protects this place from outside magic has failed. Whatever threat we face, was able to implant these through what we believe to be a sleeping spell. They have a strong anti-magic property, bouncing back the castors spell tenfold." I explained.
"Furthermore, it now knows our location."
"Well this is great." Gajeel muttered.
"We do have an advantage. What ever it is, it still hasn't figured out how to get here. However, I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it does learn how to enter this realm. There are-"
"Hold up." Natsu interrupted. "We're in a different realm?"
Shoot. I can't believe I let that slide.
"And another thing, when you collapsed yesterday, why'd the guard call you 'Majesty'?" He asked.
No way, they heard him? Now I have to come up with and excuse. Think Lucy, think!
"You must be mistaken." I smiled, trying to buy time.
"He said, 'My Lady'." Griffon answered, coming to my rescue.
I found myself nodding, hoping they would believe Griffon's lie. Although the Dragon Slayers looked skeptical, they didn't object.
I allowed myself to internally sigh.
"Thanks Griffon."
"Of corse."
"Back to business. We still have time as it can not yet reach us. However this means we need to start you training immediately. In a few moments, guards will be taking you to the armory. There, Griffon will help you get fitted and will then escort you to the coliseum. I will explain everything once you arrive. Any questions? No? Good." I quickly explained, before having the maids usher them out the door.
With a breath or relief, I clawed my way out of bed and took my time changing into the dark celestial training gear Virgo once brought to me. Making sure the bandages that adorned my arms were covered, I slid on a pair of detached sleeves in the same gloomy hue.
Here we go...
