Alex's POV.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock buzzing. First day of classes. I suddenly remember my promise: I needed to wake John up. I crept out of my room and across the hall. I let myself in to John's room, and saw the notes I had written on his desk.
"Wake up you little shit!" I whispered.
"Hey! Fine. I'm getting up." He said with a smile. Damn, his smile. My day was better because of his smile. I went back to my room, and got dressed for school. I chose a red T-shirt and jeans. It was cold out, so I wore my turtle hoodie over it. Going into the living room, I discovered something great: Hercules and Lafayette, passed out on the sofa watching Mean Girls.
"John!" I whispered, "look at this!"
"Alex, give me time to get dressed."
"Fine, but I'm taking a picture!"
As I took the picture, I heard Laurens approach the living room.
"ALEX!"
I nodded my head to signal for his question.
"Is that a turtle hoodie?! I LOVE TURTLES!"
"I mean, you can have it if you want, it's too big for me." I said.
"THANK YOU SO MUCH!" I took off the hoodie and passed it to him.
Without hesitation, he put it on and hugged me again. He really wasn't kidding when he said he was a huggy person. I smiled at him. I went back to my room and chose another hoodie, this time it was green.

We were headed out the door when Hercules woke up," Laurens? Hamilton? LAFAYETTE? WHAT HAPPENED?!" John and I giggled as we left the building, and headed for History class.
"You know, I never liked history." I said.
"Why?" Laurens asked, confused.
"Because we have class with Thomas Jefferson."
"How do you know that?"
"Because, my dear Laurens, I am friends with Eliza Schuyler." He blushed at his recognition to me.
"Heh, I guess you're right."
"Do you know what, John?"
"What?"
"You're the first person I've had a true conversation with except Eliza."
"I'm honoured!" He said grinning.
As we arrived in History, we took seats next to each other.
"Good Morning! Today, we're learning about Lin-Manuel Miranda's war efforts. Now, you all should have notes with you, as it was set as a task before class."
"..Shit.." Laurens cursed quietly.
"Look, it's fine, John. You can use mine."
"You're just saving my life all day today!" He said with a smile.
"I am indeed."
( Time Skip -> Lunch)
"Laurens?" I said, poking his head to wake him up.
"Hmm?" He said suddenly sitting up.
"It's lunch," I said to him, gently pushing him off my shoulder.
We walked, deeply engaged in conversation, until we reached the cafeteria.
"HEY JOHN, ALEX!" we heard Lafayette call. We quickly shuffled to the table, my eyes closing. I was so tired after the lesson, I envied Laurens for being able to fall asleep.
I remember Laurens sitting next to me, and chatting to Hercules. After that, I gave into sleep.

I woke up to Lafayette slapping me on the face.
"OW! What was that for?"
"Oh, you fell asleep on John, so I wanted to wake you up." I rolled my eyes and smiled.
"For your information, he did that to me in history class. It was accidental payback!"
"Okay, Mr. ImNotGay."
Hearing those words made me want to throw up. I'm gay, and still haven't come out to anyone except Eliza. I couldn't stop myself from saying five words that changed my friendship with him for ever. Without thinking, I angrily blurted out:
"ACTUALLY LAFAYETTE, I AM GAY!"
At these words, I left the table and ran to my next class: math.

One thought comforted me. Eliza had math with me. She was half an hour early like me.
"Hey Alex! What are you doing here so early?"
" I had a fight with the boys. So I ran here, because I know you'de be here. Why are you early?"
"To escape Angelica."
"Good idea." I said, giving her a small nudge.

John's POV.
"Lafayette! You don't just say that! Especially to him!" I fumed. I really cared about Lafayette and Alex, but that's just to far, even by my standards. My brain switched off.
G

o after him
No.
Quit lying to yourself. You know you want to run to him. You love him, John.
He's hurt. He needs you.
"Laf, that was quite insensitive."
"I'm sorry..." Lafayette said, looking at us both.
GO JOHN!
NO.
HE NEEDS YOU.
Giving into my love, I shuffled over to the edge of the seat.
"I need to find him." I said, getting up. I felt a tug at my arm.
"Leave him. He needs space." Hercules said. He was right. But a part of my heart still wanted to go after him. An hour later, as we approached our rooms, I saw Hamilton's door was closed.
"Laf and I are heading for a few drinks, wanna come?"
"No thanks," I said, "I have homework."
As they went out, I knocked on Alex's door.
"Leave me alone."
"Alex..."
I heard a small sob come from his room.
"Alex, are you... crying?"
"No." he said quietly.
I had and idea. I reached for my notepad and began writing:
Alex,
I'm sorry for what happened today. Don't try to hide who you are; embrace it like me. Can you let me in? Please Alex. I'm worried.
Write soon!
                                     -J.L <3
I slid the note under the door. Alex gave a small laugh and unlocked his door. Without even looking at me, he pulled me into a hug. I could feel his tears stain my hoodie as he cried.
"I've been here for two days, and I've already messed up." He said while still crying.
"Alex. You didn't mess up. It wasn't your fault." I said, stroking his hair as he hugged me.
"John?"
"Yes Alex?"
"You don't hate me for being gay, do you?" I rested my head on his shoulder,
"Alex, how can I hate you?"
He gave a small laugh.
We stood there for ages, the time melting away. I've never met someone this amazing and awesome. He pulled away. I smiled at him, and he smiled back, tears still in his eyes. He looked at me, his hazel eyes catching the light in the most beautiful of ways.Without thinking, I pulled him into a kiss.

He kissed back.

Time stopped. As I finally pull away, I say," How can I hate you for being gay when I am too?" He gave me a smile and sat on the sofa, with me at his side. We sat for ages, watching The Lion King. When the film finished, Alex was curled up next to me. As I watched him, my eyes began to close, and I lost my battle against sleep.
