Alia's POV
I wake up to my head killing. I must have had one too many shots last night. My head aches agonizingly.
"Urgh!" I screech loudly. Not realising Shraddha's lying right next to me.
"Huh! What happened? Happening is what?" Shraddha says half asleep, suddenly waking up.
"Nothing you fell asleep in my room again man. Wipe your dribble."
She frantically touches her face.
"Stop teasing me Alu Parotha and I wasn't in my senses so I just came into your room." She says.
"It's fun to tease you, Shraddha Birdy."
"Urgh!" She grits her teeth. "My head is killing me yaar!"
"Stop complaining. I'm getting up now. Gonna make the special hangover home remedy lemon water."
"That's disgusting!" She retches.
"Shut up you 5 year old!"
I'm like the mother and Shraddha is like my child, even though she's older than me.
I'm the only one she can be herself around, the only one who hasn't broken her heart. When someone betrays her, she can't take it, and sometimes does things she regrets later on.
I tie my hair in a messy bun and get out of bed. I can't be bothered to do my bed. I stopped abiding by the rules years ago.
I mix in the ingredients and pour the mixture into two glasses. The taste is horrendous!
I take it upstairs and Shraddha and I pinch our noses as we gulp it down.
"Eurgh!" Shraddha says sticking her tongue out.
"Sour, but it's instant relief." I say.
She can't argue with that.
She stops whining now. I go to brush my teeth.
I take the glasses downstairs and decide to make pancakes. The warm smell wafts through the air.
Shraddha runs down the stairs. She looks much more fresh now. Her hair is tied in a loose side braid and her face is fresher.
"Something smells goooood!" She exclaims.
"I'm making your fav - pancakes!"
"Yay! I love living with you yaar!"
"I love living with you too. It's better than when I was livi-"
"Shh!" Shraddha interrupts. "That was the past. Now you live with me - The Amazing Shraddha Kapoor!"
I can't stop myself from laughing.
Shraddha's phone beeps.
"Ooh!" She exclaims.
"What is it?" I query.
"There's a new club opening today! Apparently it's supposed to be really good! Let's go there! Tonight!"
"Not tonight..."
"No Alu Parotha no! You are coming and that is final!"
"But-"
"Shut your mouth, shut your mouth, shut your mouth!" She doesn't allow me to speak. "I'm the oldest so yeah!"
"Not in maturity." I mutter under my breath.
"What was that?"
I smile. "Nothing."
We sit on the sofa and eat our pancakes.
My phone beeps.
"Who is it?" Shraddha asks.
I check my phone. Not someone who she's particularly fond of.
"Disha."
Shraddha rolls her eyes. "For tweetings sake this girl needs to get a life!"
Shraddha says for tweetings sake because apparently, 'she doesn't like to be rude.'
I answer the phone.
"Hello?" I say.
"Alia! Hey!" Disha says.
"Hey!"
Shraddha mouths loner.
"Shut up!" I say.
"Are you talking to me?" Disha asks.
"No no!" I insist.
Shraddha smirks to herself.
"Well anyway, I was wondering if us two could like... have a girls night out?"
Shraddha mouths no.
"Umm..."
She mouths no again.
"Sure!" I say.
"Great! See ya!"
"Bye."
"What the actual tweeting hell Alu Parotha?! You ditched me for her!" Shraddha exclaims.
"Don't blame me - blame yourself! You were putting me under pressure!"
She rolls her eyes. "Well you're coming to the club with me whether you like it or not!"
"OK."
Shraddha goes to her room. I text Disha to meet us at the club.
Sss!
"Ouch!" I blow on my finger.
"What happened?" Shraddha asks.
"I burnt my finger with the straightener."
"Here let me." She comes over and brushes my hair. She uses the straightener to transform strands of my hair into beautiful curls.
"Alu?"
"Yeah?" I say.
"Why did you still invite Disha?" She questions.
"Shraddha, I'm like her only friend. Besides, I've never been given a valid reason as to your extreme disliking towards her."
"I just don't Alia. She spells trouble. I know that she wants to break us apart. And I invited Kriti so it won't be just us and stupid Disha!"
"You're being paranoid."
"I'm being smart."
