DAN's POV
There I was, sat on my bed, phone in my hand, about to call Y/N and ask her if she was free that afternoon. I considered texting her instead of calling her, but it felt a bit immature and, as I eventually had to talk to her sometimes, I might as well have "practiced" with a phone call.
It was 10AM, and as whatsapp told me that she was last seen five minutes ago, I hoped she wasn't asleep anymore. So I scrolled through my contacts and quickly tapped on the "call" button, without thinking too much. She fortunately answered after a couple of seconds.
"Hi Dan, how are you?" Her beautiful voice resounded in my ear.
"Hello Y/N! I'm alright, how bout you?" I replied, getting up from my bed and beginning to pace around my room, as I always did when I was on the phone with someone.
"Quite good actually," I heard her giggle and some noises on the back; it seemed to me that she was outside. "I just finished my last exam, it went amazingly."
"Oh wow, congratulations!" I said, genuinely happy for her, and also because that probably meant she was now free and the possibilities of her accepting my invite were more than before. "I'm really happy to hear that." I added, sounding cheerful.
"Thank you Dan".
We didn't speak for a couple of seconds, but I managed to break this awkward silence. "Ehm well, I was just wondering... are you free this afternoon?" I simply said, biting my nails.
"Oh, yeah, sure" She replied, and I took a deep breath.
"Would you like to go and grab a coffee, with me?" I sat down again. Say yes, please.
"Yeah, why not. Tell me when and where and I'll be there" And so we arranged a date – I didn't know if it was actually a date or just a meeting with a friend, but who cares – and said our goodbyes.
I couldn't wait to see her, and I immediately went to the living room, where Phil was watching an old episode of Food Wars. I sat next to him, in my sofa crease, and he immediately noticed the smile on my face. I grabbed my laptop and turned it on, as I had to edit my Top Dan Memes of 2016, which had to go up the next day.
"Did you ask Y/N out?" Phil asked me, and he seemed almost as excited as I was.
"Yeah. I'll see her this afternoon, at 5." I tried to contain my smile.
My roommate hugged me and told me that he hoped everything would go alright. I hope that too, Phil.

"Wait, what do I wear?" We'd been sat on our sofa for about half an hour, without speaking to each other, when I realized I had not decided my clothes for later.
Me and Phil had completely different fashion tastes: he liked bright, colorful clothes and crazy decorated shirts; I wore mostly black, and in general "normal" colors, the ones that don't make you stand out. Being 6 foot 3 was already enough.
We went to my room, and Phil searched through my sweaters and t-shirts.
"What about this?" He said jokingly, pointing at my yeezy jumper.
I laughed and told him that I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of Y/N. I liked that jumper, but everyone else in the world thought I looked like a potato sack with that on.
I finally decided to wear black skinny jeans, black yeezys and a plain grey hoodie. I left all my clothes on my bed and went in the kitchen, where Phil attempted to cook lasagna. We obviously ended up having a takeaway.

After a long, hot shower, I dried my hair and did nothing to it, realizing that Y/N had only seen my with straightened hair. I hoped she'd like it curly. I brushed my teeth and quickly got into my clothes. It was now 4.15 PM, which meant I was early, but I still decided to head outside, as I didn't want her to arrive to Starbucks before me.
I put my black coat on and said goodbye to Phil, who shouted "Good luck" just before I closed the door of our apartment.
It was extremely cold, but the sky was getting clearer and clearer and the sun wasn't covered by clouds anymore. I got to the nearest tube station and jumped on the train, which was fortunately not much crowded, and I managed to find a seat. I played games with my phone for about two minutes, because I then had to get off the train and change direction.
We decided against central London for three reasons: it was always full of tourists, it was impossible to find a free table in any coffee shops there, and also it would've been weird if some viewers stopped us for photos. This meant, however, that I had to change train three times to get there, and the journey took about twenty-five minutes.
I was ten minutes early when I arrived at the Starbucks, and because I was freezing – the tube was warm and I didn't take my coat off, which was a big mistake – I decided to enter and sit at a little table for two. I took my phone and typed a message to Y/N.
I'm already inside Starbucks, on the left.
The coffee shop was almost empty: besides me, there were two men dressed in suits working with their laptops, occasionally sipping their coffees and exchanging a couple of words about whatever they were doing.
The door opened once, and it revealed a blonde lady who quickly ordered a latte and told the waiter to keep the change. She then left the shop almost running.
At exactly 5 PM, when I was beginning to feel butterflies in my stomach – the time was coming –, Y/N texted me:
Okay, I'll be there in 5 mins, sorry if I'm late
I smiled and told the waiter, who came near my table to ask if I wanted to order something, that I was waiting for someone so I'd have something later. She politely smiled and went back to the counter.
Then, after a couple of minutes, the door opened again; Y/N was there, in her dark blue coat. She was wearing a gray beanie and her hair was straight. As soon as she saw me, she warmly smiled to me, and all I could think is that she was gorgeous.
I love him
