~Cerise's P.O.V.~

I woke up Monday morning bright and early.

For a day in August, it was actually quite nice in New York today.

After mentally arguing with myself to get up, I finally do so and start to get ready for school.

I knew I would have to go to school eventually, and after more than a week of being away, I finally decided that it was time to go back.

Dragging myself to my closet, I contemplate what I am going to wear to school.

After what seems like forever, I finally settle on a baby blue crop top, high waisted ripped skinny jeans, and to top of the look, I slip on my golden sandals.

Before walking out of my room, I get my yellow and grey colored bag for school.

I make my way to the kitchen, but I can't help bring drawn to Skylar's old room.

It was only just yesterday that she passed, but it's been a little over a week since she's passed.

I didn't realize I had zoned out until I heard someone calling my name in the distance.

"Cerise, are you okay?" Someone asks, and once I snap out of my trance, I look up to see who was trying to talk to me.

Mom.

"Um, yeah. Yeah, I'm okay. Just, distracted." I explain, bringing my attention to her.

"Are you sure you want to go to school today? I don't want you getting distracted and you end up failing or missing something that is important."

"Look, Mom, I know you're concerned, but I'm going to have to go back to school eventually, so I might as well go now," I explain, trying to reassure her that I'll be fine, but that's when my Dad steps in.

"Megan, just let the poor girl go to school. I'm sure she doesn't want to be cooped up in this house any longer." My Dad says, and I couldn't agree with him more.

What once was a bright, caring, put together family, turned into something less. After all, we were missing a member.

"Are you sure you want to Cerise? You can always stay home." She says, still trying to persuade me.

"Megan,"

"Fine David, Cerise, you can go, but know you can call us if you want to come back," Mom says, and I give her a hug.

"I'll be fine Mom, but thanks," I say, and a couple seconds later, we break away.

I move over to my Dad and envelope him in a hug as well.

"Thanks, Dad," I say because if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be going to school today, and as much as I hate it, I actually want to go this time.

"You're welcome sweet pea. Now, you better go or you'll be late." He says as we pull away.

"Okay, love you both, gotta go, bye," I say as I head towards the door, but I make a stop in the kitchen for something to eat for breakfast.

"Okay, love you!" Mom calls out, and I wave to them as I walk out the door.

Closing it behind me, I move forward and begin to walk, but soon stop when I hear someone calling my name.

"Cerise, wait up." Says the voice, and it doesn't take long to figure out who it is.

"Hey, Nolan," I say as he makes his way next to me.

"Hey C, so you're coming to school today?" He asks, his tone fills with curiosity, and when I look in his eyes, I see the vibrant gleam that shines in them. All from being happy, and after Skylar's passing, that's what we all need to bring ourselves to again.

"Yeah, I thought it was time to make an appearance again," I explain and begin walking, Nolan following next to me.

"And your Mom let you?" He asks, sounding shocked, and I couldn't blame him, my Mom was a hard person to persuade.

"Yeah, with my Dad's help I was able to come today, so I had to thank him for that." U say, and soon after, the conversation dies, and that's when Nolan reaches for my hand. Our fingers soon intertwining.

I look back up at him, after looking at the ground for a long time, and smile.

"I love you, Cerise. And I meant it when I said it the first time, and I mean it just as much now, if not, then even more." He says, and the grin that spreads across my face is so but at this point, that I think my face might be stuck this way.

"I love you more," I say and rest my head on his shoulder as we continue walking, nearing the school entrance.

"I love you most." He says, giving my hand a gentle squeeze before we walk into the school together.

"That's unfair. You know I love you more than you love me." I say, my face forming into a pout.

"Yeah, that may be true, but I said it first, so, yeah." He says, slightly laughing at my childish reaction.

"I still win," I say as we both walk to my locker.

"Whatever helps you sleep at night." He says before walking away. Not letting me have the last word.

"What am I going to do with you," I mumble under my breath as I begin to get my things for school.

This wasn't over.
