Brynn's POV
~~~~~~~~~The car ride back was slow. I admired the way the sunlight made the frost look like diamonds, the light gently passing through the crystals creating an effervescent illusion.
The tiny radio played softly the music of Ed Sheeran, the calm before the storm that is sure to come.
I reached across and grabbed Luke's hand. He attempted to give me a gentile squeeze as if to say "everything will be okay." But soon realized he couldn't with the large white cast enveloping his arm.
I grew nervous as we came close to the house. I didn't know why, but I did.
When we pulled into the driveway the house looked dark. the screen door was off its hinges and thrown across the porch.
I jumped out the car and ran to the house. My stomach dropped as I ran through the front door.
Broken glass littered the floor. trails of blood stained the carpet. following the trails I soon reached a bloody figure.
"Ashton!" I cried as I dropped to my knees next to him.
"Br-brynn" he stuttered as he tried to sit up.
"No stay down."
"Brynn, he has them." he whispered.
"Who? Who does he have ash?" I questioned as I examined his body.
"Iris and Calum." my blood ran cold.
"Luke!" I shrieked.
"Brynn!" He came running. "fuck ash." tears stained his face as he fell to his knees.
"Luke, whats wrong?" I asked as he placed Ashton's head on his lap.
"Louis and Jamie are knocked out in the other room. Mikey was shot in the leg. He got the bleeding to stop. everyone else is missing."
"Luke, stay here and call and ambulance. I'm going to find the others." i stood to run out but luke caught my wrist.
"No, brynn you can't go alone." i looked down into his pained eyes
"We can't leave Ash alone he'll die." I stated sternly.
"But if you go alone, you'll die" he said softly.
'if i dont go, our friends will die.' his hand went limp as he let me go
A scream rang through yard.
I kissed lukes forehead and ran out the door. Luke's yells to come back went unheard as I sprinted into the woods. the woods became increasingly darker as i moved farther awak from the house.
"Iris!" I called, desperately searching for a reply. I called over and over again till my voice was hoarse. i called one final time before my voice gave out
The woods grew quiet as I listened for a reply that would never come. My vison became blurry as tears streamed down my cheeks.
A twig snapped behind me. I spun around hoping to see Iris or Calum but came face to face with Peter.
"How nice of you to join us." he smirked before snatching me and covering my mouth with his hand. I struggled against him as he dragged me to a clearing. he dropped me on the ground, causing pain to erupt in my core. I looked up to see Iris and Cal tied to a tree. I waited till peter entered his tent to crawl over to them. i motioned them to be quiet as i ripped the tape off their mouths.
"Iris, what's going on?" I whispered as I untied her. The rope around her wrists caused flaming rings of red to devolp and it had had bitten through the sot flesh on her ankles.
"I don't know. But he hurt the others pretty bad" she cried. We could make a run for it if Calum was in good health, but if i wanted my friends to survive I would have to think of a new plan.
"Iris, are you able to run back to the house and get the police?" I asked as moved to untie calum.
"Yes, I need to to distract him though." she said as she shifted to sit on her knees. "Keep Cal safe till I get back. he hurt his bad leg on the way here." She snuck off quietly in the same direction i came from. she waited till she was far enough away to start running.
'Brynn, we- the boys- Ash got-" Cal stumbled over his words, choked by the tears running down his face.
'Shhh. Cal its okay. We're going to be fine.' i whispered as i pulled him into my arms.
'Ash, he's-'
"fine and probably on his way to the hospital by now" i reassured him quietly. he wrapped his arms around my waist and cried quietly into my shoulder for a few seconds before I was torn away.
"Where did she go?!" Peter bellowed as my head slammed on the cold ground
"I don't know!" I retorted as black specks invaded my vision.
"Oh sweetheart you'll pay for that one." he threatened as he shoved me to the dirt. he stormed away toward the tent again, only to stop a few feet away when a faint barking sound was heard.
Peter reached to his belt and bulled out a black handgun which had been concealed by his slightly long shirt.
He held it up in the direction Iris came and pulled the trigger with a bang. a split second before he dispatched the bullet, I caught sight of his target. It was little Bo trying to help.
My small dog came to halt without warning, dead on impact.
"Bo!" I cried out, "Who the hell do you think you are?!" I screamed through my tears.
Peter stormed over, grabbing me by the hair and pulling me to the middle of the clearing. Calum sat in the same position, fearing what would come next.
"Brynn!" Came a voice in the distance. My name began to echo through the trees, repeated over and over by many voices as the search for me was initiated.
"You brat!" Peter scolded as he kicked me in the side. "Look at what you've done!" I attempted to crawl away but failed when Peter stomped onto my leg, causing and audible snap to echo through the clearing.
I screamed as pain radiated through my body.
"Now look what you've made me do? I never wanted to hurt you, but now that you've ruined everything, your pain is inevitable." He grabbed me by my hair once more, but was interrupted by Calum's voice.
"Stop or I'll scream!" He yelled across the clearing. "I'll give away our position and everything will be over. You can't win, Peter." his grip on my hair loosened. I moved to sit on my knees to reduce the amount of pain in my leg.
"You stupid boy." Peter shook his head. "you say one word and I'll blow your brains out."
Calum fell silent once more, the voices calling for us seemed to move farther away. Peter walked away and returned a few moments later carrying rope.
"If you struggle, I'll shoot him." he whispered in my ear. I sat completely still, tears streaming down my cheeks as he tied my wrists behind my back. He didn't bother to tie my legs, I wouldn't be able to run anyway.
"Good girl." he cooed.
He retreated to the tent once more as I painfully managed to crawl back to cal. We sat in silence, too scared to say what we were both thinking.
Calum's voice cracked, "We're going to die here."
