My head throbbed so hard, and my body was as cold as ice. With a gasp, I shot up and opened my eyes. The setting was very familiar. I was in my cave, lying on a bunch of fresh elk hides. "W..what happened?" I moaned. Suddenly, it hit me. "Comet! Where is he? Is he okay?" Luna looked at me mournfully, but said nothing. I new instantly what happened. "No... I... I tried to save him. This can't be!" I tried to get up, but my bruised ribs and broken wings had other ideas. "Stay still," Leaf said. "I'm going to put some ointment on your leg. It was torn badly." I looked to see a long, deep gash running down my thigh. The grey wolf licked the blood off of the wound and applied the cream to it. It burned, but I didn't mind. After the gash was bandaged, I tried to prop myself up against the cave wall. Flame had lit a fire in the middle of the floor. It's tongues reached toward the ceiling, casting shadows on the walls. I looked at my wing's mangled state. Half of my flight feathers were either bent or missing, it hung at an odd angle, and the down was pricked out in every imaginable direction. My hair was a mess, and it was apparent that I needed a bath. I grabbed the satchel next to me and slid the shard of crypt out of it. It was so interesting as to how this little piece of poetry could document the gate of an entire people- and my people, at that. Just as soon as I started to fall asleep, a beautiful song flooded throughout the cave. The remaining members of the pack were asleep, save for Storm, who stood at the opening with her head to the sky. She was apparently singing a lament to Wind, her fallen sister.

note from 123hi
okay, Storm is a boy, and his siblings are rain and misty. Wind doesn't have any siblings.
