two days later, after phil had thought about everything he might have to see that night, he had finally worked up enough courage to ask.
"take me with you."
dan nearly spit out his drink.
"what?!"
"yeah, take me on a shift of yours. please? you go every night, i just want to see. one night, i'll catch up, i won't even puke or anything,"
"phil, no, that's crazy-"
"please?"
"no."
"dan, you go every night, we've been living together and have been friends forever now, i just want to see. besides, whats so bad? it's only, um, dead bodies? it won't hurt me, right?"
"no- no it won't hurt you, it's just-"
"just what?"
dan ran his fingers through his hair for a few minutes, thinking and tapping his foot.
"fine."
"really!?" phil smiled, hopping to his feet.
"yeah, just, try and keep up, alright?"
"i'll try my best."
phil couldn't stop smiling, and dan was put a bit more at ease after seeing phil's smile.
