16: Wait For It

Be Karkat==>

You feel someone grab your hand and turn to see Dave. "What the fuck are you doing?"
"I need to talk to you. Privately."

"Okay, you don't need to grab my hand though." You pull your hand away, blushing, "What's this about?"

"Just follow me." He leads you to a back room in the warehouse. Everyone else is in the usual spot and destracted while you two get away. He closes the door after you walk inside and he pushes you up against a wall.

"Dave!? Get the fuck off me-" You're cut off when he kisses you.

Well this is different.

Okay, you have to admit that Dave is really fucking hot and you've had a big crush on him for a long time. But what the fuck is up with him? You always thought he liked John.
His hands find their way under your sweater and your fingers tug at his hair.  This is probably the happiest you've ever been since this whole shitstorm started.

"Karkat.... Karkat... KARKAT!"
A voice yells at you and you wake up. Dave is standing over you.

"Dude, are you alright? You were making weird noises in your sleep."
"Oh-" Your face turns red and you sit up, "Yeah, I'm fine.." You try to calm down, "Just uh.. Had a dream..."
"What about...?"

"Doesn't matter," You sigh, "Are the others back yet?"
"No." Dave sat beside you, "I'm getting worried. They said they'd be back long before the sun starts to go down."
"They'll be back. Stop worrying so much."
"I have to. John and Dirk are out there. I mean, Jake is too but he's not immediate to my heart, Y'know? John's my best friend and Dirk is family. I'd mcfreaking lose it if something happened to them."
"Yeah..." You look down, "So... How would you feel if only one of them came back instead? Like only Jake and Dirk, or Jake and John?"
"Please don't even ask me that. I don't wanna imagine it."

"Sorry." You shut up.
For fucks sake, it was just a dream. You should've known he wouldn't be like that with you. He likes John, obviously.

"I seriously don't wanna imagine losing John. He's like... More than just a friend to me. He's basically family." Dave sighed and laid down, resting his head on your lap, "Same thing with you and Mayor. You guys are my family."

You smiled, "Thanks Strider."
The door opened and in came the gang along with two faces you definitely recognized.

"Eridan?! Sollux?!" You stood and ran to them.

"Kar!"
"KK!!"

They ran to you and you fucking tackled them to the floor, hugging them tightly.
Dave runs to Dirk and John, hugging them in return. You glance and see John & Dave instantly get close and start talking about God knows what.

"WWhere's evveryone else?!" Eridan grinned, "WWe wwere told our friends are here."
"They're all over there, sleeping. Dave and I were taking watch."
You walked them over to the group, that were all taking a nice nap together.
"HEY ASSHATS, WAKE UP." You shout and everyone wakes up.
Kanaya & Aradia sit up and see Sollux and Eridan. They all get up and hug them tightly.

"AA!" Sollux picked Aradia up, hugging her tightly.
"Sollux!" She laughed as she was spun around in his arms.

Eridan hugged Kanaya.
"Is so good to see you again.
"You too." Eridan smiled, "WWhere's Fef and VVrisk? I heard they wwere here too!"

Everyone kind of freezes up.

"Wwell?"

You don't think anyone is gonna say it, so you might as well break it down for him.
"Uh... Vriska tried to kill Aradia along with Nepeta, Equius and Feferi. Nepeta and Equius ended up dying... Aradia and Feferi got to us after and told us everything Vriska did. We sent Aradia, Feferi and two others to leave Vriska on her own.... Um... Vriska killed everyone except Aradia... She killed Feferi."

Sollux stopped hugging Aradia and looked to Eridan.
Eridan looked lifeless, "I-I see..."
"Is that true?" Sollux looked to Aradia.

Aradia nodded and started crying, "Gamzee and Tavros were here too with her... They didn't make it... We also went to Terezi's place... She didn't make it either."

"I'm gonna be sick.." Eridan mumbled and you hug him.
"I'm sorry."
"N-No, please..." He backs away, "I just... Need a moment... Evverythin' is happenin' so fast..." He walks away to the back of the warehouse.

"I'll talk to him..." Sollux said, pulling away from Aradia. He walked to the back to comfort him.
You turn to Dave and John, "Well, that's one way to say hi to your friends."

"Cheer up, Karkat." John smiled, "They'll come around to hanging out with you soon. They just need time. They were talking on the way here how close they were to people we lost."

"John's right, as usual." Dave grinned and nudged him, "They'll be fine after a while. Don't sweat it, Karkat."

Be Eridan==>

You sat on the floor, against the wall. You hugged your knees, crying into them. Thoughts of Feferi swarmed your mind. All of the fun, loving times together and the not so fun ones. Thoughts of how she must have died crept into your head as well.
How could Vriska do that?! And to Feferi of all people?!

You look to the side when the door opens and see Sollux. You look back down as he sits down beside you.

Neither of you speak.

It stays like that for a while, and you're honestly kind of glad he didn't say anything. You know he wanted you to be the one to speak first.

"She's gone..."
"I'm sorry, ED... I'm still trying to comprehend everyone else too... It fucking sucks..."

"No shit." You wipe your face with your scarf, "God, I'm a mess."
"It's okay to be a mess right now. The world is a mess too. No fixing it."

"True..." You sigh and lean back. You out your hand down, accidentally putting it over his. Before you could pull away and mumble an apology, he grabs your hand.
You look at him and see him trying to hold back tears. So, you let him squeeze your hand.

"You're thinkin' about the others...?"
"Yeah..." His voice cracks.
The two of you stay like that for a long time. Neither of you speak any more. You just sit there, comforting each other in silence.
