Raven's POV
When it's night, and the Tower is empty. I visit the north side to speak with my master.
I hold my arms behind my back, walking with formality.
I walk up the stairs to see him.
When the stairs end, I stop and stare at him.
"Master?" I say gently. He turns around and stares back at me.
"Yes, little one?" He replies in his expecting bold voice.I look to the corner. "I've returned."
"Welcome back then," he says. Turning back around, writing on his desk.
I was expecting him to assure me with question. I start to raise my shoulders and look down because of how I nervous I've become now.
"Um... you need me for something?" I ask, stepping a bit closer to him."I believe my needs have been taken care of for now, thank you," he replied.
I grunt quietly and exhale. "Thirsty? I can get you some water. And if you're hungry I can-"
He looks back at me and approaches me. "Miss Solrac," he says in a slightly louder, but kind voice. "There's nothing I need. Your assistance is not needed until tomorrow."
I owe him everything. I owe him my life. I would be dead if it wasn't because of him.
"I didn't mean trouble," I said."No need. I understand your reasoning, little Dragon," he chuckles.
"I sense when you're troubled," he told me. "No matter how far you are, and no matter how much you deny it, I will always know."
He walks past me downstairs and stares at the Traveler. "It's like the Traveler," he said. "You see, the Light lives in all places, in all things. You can try to block it, even try to trap it. But the Light will always find its way."
"As it is the same for me," I say. "I sense when you're in trouble. No matter how far you are, and no matter how tough the threat is. I will come after you and keep you safe. Even if it means my life. Someone lays a finger on you, I'll kill them. If an Eliksni stands in my way, I'll decimate their Ether. If a Hive stands in my way, I'll burn them into ashes in all of their realms. If a Vex stands in my way, I'll slay them in the past, present, and future. And if a Cabal stands in my way..." I scoff to my own wrath. "Well, it'll be their planet that I'll be blowing up just for getting in my way."
+ + +
I traveled back to Twilight Gap and sat down for the night. I wore a fur coat in the weather that someone would wear a long sleeve shirt for. I shiver a little and stare at the sky. Then I hear footsteps. Light, nervous, and regretting. It's Octavia.
"What is it?" I ask without looking at her.
She sits next to me and stares at me with her venomous, bright, green eyes.
"Are you cold?" She asks.
I stare at her, ready to lie.
"No, I'm not."She looks at me differently.
"I have a question."I narrow my eyes with curiosity.
"Yes?"She takes a moment and looks at the sky.
"Do you know if I have a mother?" She asks. "What I mean is, I know that you didn't give birth to me. We are different. Right?""Of course," I reply casually.
"So then, that means that, there's someone out there that is my mother. Do you know who she is?"
I stare at her, seeing if she's ready. But all I see in her eyes is innocence. Just like Crimson. Just like her, she wants to know. She wants to go look for herself rather than taking someone's word for it.
"I know just as much as you do, mija," I said.
"So that means that there is someone out there that is my mother?" She implies.
It's everyday now I have to tell her something new. One of these days it's gonna be me telling her that she does have a mother. And that I know who and where she is. However, it's seems that it's the right time for a 13 year old to be asking this.
"Yes," I replied. "But focus on the matter at hand. Did you do what I told you to do?"
"Aye," she replies softly. Whenever she says aye, her voice goes soft and somewhat satisfying. "All forces are still in their place. I had checked on the Hive but..." she looks away in concern.
"Necromancy?" I ask.
"Aye," she replies. "It's scary."
"No need to be scared. I'm putting my line on the line for you," I told her.
She stares at me with relief. But I had only got to see that look for a just a glimpse. A sudden force of evil full of mist stood behind her. It had pulled her head back. She quickly gasped and reached out behind her. It was Reaper when the mist thinned out. He had yanked her twin ponytail hair and had a scythe up to her neck.
"She's mine," he said.
Before I could say or do anything, he had disappeared with Octavia.
"Damn," I muttered.
