I groggily opened my eyes, wondering where I was for a good minute or so. Then it all came rushing back. Being pulled into a bush, the men chasing us, the ride here, the room full of books, and my parents. The fact that my parents were, well, gone.
I layed there, completely still, hoping things would change. But I knew they wouldn't. There was a feeling in the pit of my stomach, almost like a rock weighing me down. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't. I had completely cried myself out last night. Now I just felt lonely. I didn't mind that my parents weren't there at the moment, I had spent plenty of nights away from home before. But it had finally hit me that they wouldn't be there tomorrow, or the next day. Those hugs? The playful teasing? All the simple things they did were gone. And the only people I wanted to talk about it to was them.
After a few minutes of laying on the mattress and staring at the ceiling, I finally rolled over and forced myself to my feet. I trudged across the room to the small bathroom and leaned against the counter, looking at my reflection in the mirror on the wall.
My hair was a tangled mess, and I could probably use a shower. But for now I settled with using the sink water to wipe mascara from my face and running my fingers through my hair.
I eventually left the small room, making my way down the stairs. There was no way I was letting these new people see me moping around all day. True, I had a good reason, but still. I was going to try to act as normal as possible, no matter how hard that was at the moment.
"Sara!" I heard a familiar voice call. A curly haired girl bounced towards me, impressively peppy for this time in the morning. The time which happened to be- I looked at the clock eyes widening in shock- 12:30 pm. Never mind. It was pretty darn late.
"Did you sleep well? I sure hope so! I mean, you probably had some trouble last night but I swear it will get better. And we gotchu." She continued to ramble and I followed her down the hallway, zoning out.
She led us last the room full of books and walked through the door directly after it.
"- and here's the kitchen! I would make you waffles or something but I'm not that nice. Plus, it's practically lunch! Cereal good for now?" When I nodded my head she walked over to a cabinet, grabbing a box of special K and tossing it to me.
"Thanks." I said.
She continued around the room, grabbing milk, a bowl, and a spoon for me.
"Here ya go!" She said cheerfully, handing all the items to me.
I began to fill my bowl with cereal, suddenly extremely hungry. As I set to work on my food, she began rambling on, and I tuned her out. Occasionally I would hear a couple of words or so, but I wasn't completely ready to think, considering I had just woken up.A/N Hey my dudes! I haven't updated this story since May.... sorry bout that. Anyways, nothing really happened in this chapter but I felt like updating and didn't have time to go much further. So we'll settle for a filler(;
