I woke up and had a pain in the side of my head. Gathering my surroundings, realized I was being dragged. I also noticed that I was in what looked like a cave. It was moist and I could see these strange rock formations. As we continued to move forward, I heard a faint but distinct roar of people cheering. I tried to walk by myself, but I couldn't feel my legs. I realized then and there that I couldn't move anything but my head. I guess S took note of this because he smiled as he looked at me.

"How ya doin'?" He said with his phantom smile.

I tried to reply back, but my throat was extremely dry. How long was I out?

As if knowing what I was thinking, he replied, "Three days you've been out. You're lucky too, most of the newbies fight before they're ready. We let you have a chance by letting you rest."

"Fight?"

"Forgot you don't know. Anyway, Dre here'll explain it to ya. Dre?"

The man holding me by my left arm began, "Well to get into our group, you gotta fight to survive. whoever wins moves up 'til there's a few left. Those few will then go through a type of rite of passage, again trying to survive. If you do, you're in."

I didn't  get a chance to take it all in, because as soon as he finished his sentence, a seemingly random door appeared. That's when I regained feeling in my legs. It was hard to walk at first, and I struggled, but I quickly recovered. Two thoughts entered my mind. The first was that I needed to survive. The second was the one question I couldn't shake. What happened to the rest of them at the market?

I didn't want to kill anyone, but walking in there I realized that I had no choice. I used my telepathy and tried seeing what these guys were made of. Several things were clear many of these were types of kinetic powers. These were namely pyrokinesis, cryokinesis and terrakinesis. There seemed to be an audience and as I stepped into the make-shift arena, I heard the familiar roar of cheering.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! Are you ready for the fight of the recruits?" The cheering roared to a deafening blast. The man announcing was standing at the center of the ring atop an emblem of what seemed like a three-headed dog. He then continued, "I thought you were! Anyway back to the main event. First we have the terrifying, boulder-smashing, terrakinetic, Bull Stone! Second, the incredibly fast as lightning, Boltshot! Thirdly, we have the heat making, Flamed Jay! The cool as ice, Freeze-flame! Lastly, we have Dead-shot, the newest guy here!"At that there were several boos pointed at me. Huh, guess that makes me Dead-shot. Not too bad a name.

The announcer left the center and took his seat. When he did, someone began a count down. As they were counting down, I began making a strategy. I would take down the terrakinetic first that way he wouldn't be able to mess with the place while I was fighting. By the looks of things, the others were thinking of doing the same. After the terra, I'd go for the quickster. I'd freeze the floor to do that. after words, the dude Freeze-Flame would be a problem. Finally I'd take the last guy out quick and easy.

Three! This is it. My first complete fight I'd have with others like me.

Two. I calmed my mind, ready for anything.

One! Lets go.
