*Flashback*

I was on the couch watching watching The Breakfast Club when I heard my front door open and being slammed shut.

I looked over to my left to see Cameron stumbling towards me looking very intoxicated.

I slowly step over to him to inspect his current state, but he shoves me away.

He walks over to the kitchen and goes to grab one of my mom's beers from the fridge.

I stand up from my seat and walk into the kitchen.

"Cam, you can't drink that! What am I supposed to tell my mom if she asks me why one of her beers is missing?"I say furiously as I try to take the bottle from him.

His eyes fill with anger and instantly I regret even saying anything. I knew he had a short temper but I didn't want him to get me in trouble or him blowing up in anger. I think I had just set off the latter.

"Do I fucking care? No, I don't." He snaps.

"S-sorry." I stutter.

He glares at me and takes a gulp from the bottle.

"What the hell has happened with you?" I muttered under my breath.

"What did you say?!" He asks.

"Nothing."

He stands up from the stool he was sitting on and approaches me.

I look up at him and tremble.

His hand raises and I prepare for him to hit me. Instead, I feel his hand gently touch my cheek and I open my eyes in shock. My shock is next replaced with pain when he grips onto my hair and shoved me to the floor. I have no time to soften my fall and subsequently hit the side of my face and eye on the floor.

I feel the tears I've been holding in spill out.

"What's wrong? Go ahead cry all you want. You're so pathetic. I don't even know why I ever got with you." He walks out of my house and into his car.

The engine roars to life and he drives off, to what I'm guessing was his house.

I try to wipe the tears from my face but more replace them.

I slide down the wall in a heap and pray no one will find out about this.

*End of flashback*

"What do you mean he's back?!" I whisper.

"I'm sorry Em. I just found out and I needed to tell you." She says sadly.

"How can he be back? He's supposed to be in there for another year. It's only been a few months!"

"I don't know, maybe he's been put on parole or something. All I know is that he's back in town."

"No," I whisper, "he can't be back."

My vision goes blurry and I feel Lily pull me into a hug. I sob into her shoulder while she rubs my back.

A few minutes later, the tears seemed to have stopped coming. I sit down on the couch and put my head in my hands.

"Why is he back?"

"I don't know, Em. I just heard someone say that he moved back in town after...what happened."

"Oh my God, this can't be happening." I mutter.

"I'm so sorry, Em." she says sadly.

"It's not your fault."

"I swear, if he hurts you again I will report him to the police again."

I smile at her. "And that is why I love you."

" I am irresistible." She says sarcastically while flipping her hair behind her shoulder.

I laugh but soon it fades and I wonder how I'm going to get through the year with him here.

He's not the first person to have hurt me in some way, but he definitely left me damaged, physically and emotionally.

Now that he's back, so do all the memories he hauls with him, and I know that senior year is not going to be as jolly as I hoped.
