Magnus P.O.V.

The moment I saw Maryse standing in our house, realizing she was Alec's mother, I knew I was busted. I've heard much about her, she was a big part of the clave and not very happy about the existence of us downworlders.
She always tried to stay as far away from us, as possible. Of course there rang a bell, as I heard that Alec's last name was Lightwood, but I've never heard the name Alexander Lightwood in our world.
I didn't even knew she had a second son, but I start to realize why she did so...

First I tried to find them, but it didn't work. She must've covered her tracks and Alexander's too. I already missed him and the thought of him being this far away only made it worse. I wouldn't be able to see him again, until he finds me.

She surely is sitting next to the next warlock now, paying him to erase Alexanders memories. Again. But both of us know, it won't last long. He has to find out one day and then she won't be able to part us again.

Alec P.O.V

"What the hell is going on?! What happened there and where are we?" I asked as I turned around and didn't find myself at our house in Sweden, but in our apartment in Canada, where I normally lived with my family.

"Alec calm down..." Robert said, trying to calm me.

"The hell I'm doing! Just tell me already"

"We are just trying to protect you." My mum told me then in a strict tone, like I was the one who behaved wrong.

"I'm sorry? You just beamed me up with some...I don't even know what it is! I was fine over there. I had the time of my life, as you just came and pulled me with you, against my will btw. And now you think I should be thankful for what you did? You said you were trying to protect me. Trying. Well, you miserably failed, because you only made it worse."

"Watch your mouth! It's our duty to protect you, most important from the things you didn't know could harm you."

"Magnus is no harm! The most dangerous people at the moment are you." I said gesturing to my mom and dad.

"Mum, just tell him already..."

"Izzy, you stay out of it. Go to your room."

"Tell me what? And she won't go anywhere, she seems to be the only person thinking normal, except for me."

"I won't discuss this anymore, it only means danger, so you both go to your rooms. We will fix it tomorrow." Maryse just said leaving the room with my father.

I wasn't able to recognize them anymore. They were more like two strangers telling me what to do and what do quit. It didn't feel like they were just angry and would switch back to normal again, after they have calmed down.

It seemed like this was what they really were. Evil. I wasn't strong enough to continue fighting with them, it was exhausting, and so I stopped and walked to my room. I didn't really wanted to, because they told me to do so and that was enough to be against it.

Much to my dislike I had no other place to go, since I didn't want to spend the rest of the day with them. Talking to a wall seemed to be a much nicer and easier task, considering I wouldn't have to look in those disgusted faces.

"C'mon, we'll talk." Izzy whispered to me and pulled me by the wrist to my room.

"Alec, this is nothing what you tell someone in passing. It's important and dangerous, that's the reason why mum and dad won't tell you yet, but I think it's more dangerous if you don't know, so I'll tell you." She said, as we reached my room and she closed the door behind her. I wanted to say something, as she shushed me and continued.

"So, you know this world with all these legends about demons and fairies, and so on...Well, they are no legends. Everything is true, there is much more, much worse out there, but normal people aren't able to see it. You once got into an accident when you was younger with Max, you know?"

"Yes, I remember..." I just said, as the memories of my little dead brother kicked in. It was ages ago, but you never get over these things, especially death of a close friend or family member.

"Mum told me to accompany Max at the playground to keep an eye on him. I was in a bad mood this day, so I told him to play alone, although he practically begged me to play with him" I said, as a smile appeared on my face at this memory. While I talked to a friend on the phone, with my back to him I heard a scream and then turned around. He must've fallen from the climbing scaffold and fell on a rock, 'cause-cause there was blood all over his scared face..."

I told her, on the verge of tears, looking away.

"What has that to do with this?"

"It wasn't your fault Alec..."

"Mum thinks otherwise and I know she's right."

"He didn't fell, he was killed by a demon and you saw him, but you wasn't old enough to fight him. Mum and Dad took you to a famous warlock to change your memories of this day. After the demon killed Max he went after you, but Dad, who was searching for you two, since you were late, killed the demon first, before it could do it the other way around. We almost lost you too, Alec. Mum swore to protect you at all cost, since she lost Max and almost you. We are Shadowhunter. We have half angel, half human blood in our veins and we are here to protect the mundanes, 'normal people', from those demons, which killed our brother."

"But I don't remember anything of this."

"That's because Dad thought it would be better if they take all of the memories you have of the underworld and so they did."

"And how come I see those things now, I can't remember to have seen before?"

"That's because the memory charm doesn't last forever. It has to be refreshed once in a while and the gap between those times is shrinking with every time. You are supposed to know."

"Am I a Shadowhunter?"

"You were in the training phase once your memories got erased, but practically you are, yes. We all are, Alec. Mum, Dad, me. Even Jace is. You and him were supposed to become parabatai. That's two people who are connected in a special way. They swear to protect each other, which makes you stronger. But you two didn't made it this far...Listen Alec, I'm sorry to have to tell you all of this now, it must be so confusing, but someone has to tell you."

"It's okay Izzy. I'm so thankful you told me. Just one more question. What has Magnus to do with all of this? Is he a Shadowhunter too?"

"No, everything would be okay if he were. He is a warlock and a really famous one too. Mum literally hates every downworlder and Magnus is one. Downworlders are creatures with half demon, half human blood, which doesn't mean they are bad, not at all, but Mum thinks so. Every time she hears something about demons she totally flips and wants to see it dead."

"We will fix this with you and Magnus and if they doesn't I will, I promise." She smiled at me with a mischievous smile.
