You knew deep inside that Alden was telling the truth. Everything he said matched up with reality. However, you did not want to admit it. Saying he was right would take part of your pride, your own truth and your life. You always had thought Alden was someone that got hired by your dad just before he died. The history of your former butler was always a bit shady and unknown for you, but you had seen a contract with the signing of your father so you just trusted on it.
"Fuck." You mumbled while you pushed Alden away from you and marched out of the bathroom.
"Language!" You heard the demon chuckle behind you. Knowing that he would stop you if you tried to leave you plopped down on the bed and put your arms over eachother.
"You're lying. You put that there while I was out." You spoke while staring at the door. "There is no way your story is truth. And you know what demons do? They lie, so I can't believe any word you say." Alden sighed. He started to get a little bit annoyed with you.
"Well if you don't want to believe it then don't. You and I both know it's true. Keep denying it for as long as you like, but one day or another it gets too difficult to deny. The lies will keep stabbing you until you beg for the truth to save you. It's always like that." And with that he left the room, locking the door behind him. You listened to his fading footsteps until they had fully dissapeared.
Excellent. You now could climb through the window without any worries. The steps you took to reach the gigantic window were completely silent. Your assassin skills helped you a lot with moving without making any sound and - over all - made you look graceful while doing so. Reaching the window, you placed your soft hands on it and looked out of it. The room you were in apparently got held up by a big, stone wall that was around a hundred feet tall. Every room underneath you had a balcony. You figured that those would be usefull to climb down. It would be a difficult and long climb, but you were trained to do things like that.
When you tried to open the window it didn't budge. You sighed in annoyance. When you just found a solution for one problem another formed. You took a few steps back and looked around the room. Breaking the window would make too much noise. You had to get keys somehow.
You rubbed your temples while you thought. Where would a demon hide keys? Then it came to you. In your estate he always hid keys underneath chairlegs.
With that idea in your head you almost ran to the chair and looked underneath the legs. There, underneath the second leg you looked under laid a small silver key. "Must suck to be stupid." You chuckled to yourself as you picked it up. The only time you really made a joke was when you were making fun of someone else.
Back at the window you put the key in the lock. Success. You heard a small click and the window was open. You didn't leave any time to sway your legs over the edge, leaning on the frame with your stomach. You felt tingles of adrenalin go through your whole body. Your hands got a bit sweaty, but you kept going. You slowly lowered your body until you were only holding on to the frame with your hands. "Three, two, one..." And then you let go, landing perfectly on your feet. Well that was one balcony, around eight to go.You climbed over the railing of the balcony you were standing on. Again you lowered yourself until you were just holding onto the railing with your soft hands. Just when you let go of the railing you realised you forgot to swing forward to land on the balcony underneath. That balcony was exactly placed under the one you just jumped off, making in necessary to lean in a bit to land on it.
You went flying through the air in slowmotion, but when time returned to its normal speed you found yourself barely holding on to the marble railing. With some groans and grunts you got yourself onto the balcony you were supposed to land on. For a few seconds you laid there with your eyes closed. Your chest went up and down in a rapid pace, following your quick breathing.
After the minute of resting you stood up again and continued to climb down, using the same method as before, but now swinging towards the balcony when going down.
In a few minutes you stood on the last balcony. If you jumped off this one you would jump into freedom. There was one problem though. Underneath this balcony were rocks, leading to a sea. If you jumped there was a chance you would die, but this was your only chance at freedom. You refused to stay another second with that traitor. Those thoughts made you climb onto the railing.
One deep breath in, one deep breath out. Time stood still for a moment. The sea was silent, the wind made no sound and you held in your breath. The only moving thing was your couragous heart beating in your chest, pumping adrenalin through your veins. Then you jumped.
