{Final chapter}

"Adam," Your voice sounded soft in the quiet study, "the tea is cold. Could you get me some new tea?" Adam didn't say anything, he just nodded his head and picked up the porcelain cup. The sound of his footsteps matched with the tapping of the raindrops on the big windows as he left the room, taking the small trolley with tea with him.

You returned to the documents on your table. The soft scribbling sound of your pen moving ink onto your paper sang along with the rain. It was a calming sound, atleast for you it was.

It was six months after Daichi's funeral. Fall had already reached England, turning the sky outside your window a light grey and making the leaves on the trees turn all kinds of shades of red, orange and brown.

A loud thunder sound made you look up from your paper work. A blinding flash followed quickly after the thunder and lighted up your office. The sudden light left after only a second. Your gaze was turned outside and away from the room. You expected more thunders and lightning flashes to follow, but they had already left.

"Nice to see you again, [Y/N]." Words spoken through gritted teeth made you quickly turn around in your chair. A royal demon was sitting in the chair across from you, a sour look on his handsome face. The brother from your ex-butler, the man that hated you the most from all the people on this entire world.

"Danton." You only spoke his name in a soft voice, making him raise his eyesbrows in a mock-surprised manner. The air seemed to be colder in the room now you were aware of his presence. Your chest felt like someone was pushing on it and took the air out of your lungs, making you unable to breathe properly.

Slowly the demon stood up from the satin chair and made a sickening grin appear on his face. He looked frightening and threatening, but you kept your face straight and didn't show him how nervous you were. "I am surprised you still know my name." He placed both his hands on your wooden desk, right on top of all the documents, and looked at you with hate in his eyes. His irises flashed bright pink in a split second.

"How could you murder my brother and then replace him so easily? Don't you feel anything?" You observed him, a blank expression in your piercing eyes.

"I didn't kill him."

"Don't lie! You are the reason my brother was killed!" You flinched as his loud voice reached your ears and grimaced.

"Danton-" You started but he quickly cut you off.

"Don't ever say my name." He hissed at you, bending over the desk. You lifted your hands slightly, as some kind of apology.

"What I wanted to say, is that I don't think I'm the reason he got taken care of. The real reason was his behaviour. " Danton agressively shook his head.

"His behaviour was absolutely normal for a demon! He fulfilled his part of the contract so he was supposed to get what he deserved. What he did was only natural for a demon!" He spat at you. His range made his body shake and his eyes turn a bright pink. In that moment the only thing you saw was pure hatred.

"You took my brother away from me! Do you know for how long we've been by eachother sides? For more than 2000 years." You saw sadness creep up on him, making its' first appearance in this conversation.

You couldn't help but to look down at your hands in your lap. Although you hadn't killed Alden, you felt more guilty than ever. Danton had lost his brother who he had relied on since his first second on earth.
"I'm sorry." Was the only thing you mastered to say.

Danton looked like a young boy who had lost his stuffed animal. Tears were hiding in the corners of his eyes, threatening to roll down his pink cheeks and leave traces of his grief.

"You better are sorry. Do you even know what you've done? You've taken my only real family from me!" He raised his voice again and rammed his fists onto the surface of the desk. Tears were now rolling over his cheeks and forming little waterfalls of sorrow.

You had already opened your mouth as a few knocks on the door made you switch your attention. "Excuse me," Adam's voice sounded through the white door, "I have your tea here, miss. Can I come in?" The young butler always did this. He always asked your permission to come in before he opened the door, which was very different from Alden's behaviour.

You glanced over to Danton who had his face pointed towards the door. With your eyes kept on the royal demon you answered. "Adam, go look for Sebastian." The order was simple, but enough to let him know something was wrong. Not even a second after you spoke you heard soft footsteps running in the other direction.

While Danton was still fixated on the door you reached your hand to your top drawer and silently opened it, meeting two pairs of knives and a small loaded gun. You took one of the knives and the gun, placing them on your lap that was hidden by the desk.

After a few seconds Danton turned back around, this time with a scowl on his face. "The replacement?" You just nodded, not knowing what else to do.

"You're not even going to say anything?!" He exclaimed with a wild look in his piercing pink eyes.

"What is there to say, Danton?" Your voice was barely audible, but his demon ears picked up the vibrations. Danton shook his head in disbelief and looked away. Slowly you saw his hand go into the pocket of his trousers and you noticed how his fingers took a hold of something hidden by the fabric. You reached your hand under your desk and grabbed your gun, ready to defend yourself if needed.

"Perhaps that you're sorry! Can't you say anything?!" Tears rolled down his cheeks as he yelled at you.
"I lost the only person I still cared about in this world and you have nothing to say? It is your fucking fault!" Anger, rage and sadness got mixed into his deep voice. It made you feel sorry for him, but you were not the type to take the blame for something you believed you hadn't done.

"I understand that," you sighed after a few moments of just looking at eachother, "and I'm sorry you have to go through this, but it is not my fault. Now I'll have to request you to leave my property." Immediately after you finished your sentence black smoke started to take over the office.

"Alright then," Danton spoke softly, his body shaking from the rage, "I'll leave your property and never come back." The black smoke had grown so thick that you couldn't see anything in the room, it was completely dark around you.  Danton's voice seemed to be all around you, you didn't know where he was anymore. Fear crept onto your spine, snaking its' way all around your body. You took a hold of the knife in your lap and stood up from the chair, but before you could any other move you felt the knife and gun get knocked out of your grip and hands grabbing onto your throat.

The air got knocked out of you as your back got slammed against the windows behind you. You tried to gasp for air, but Danton got your windpipe blocked. Your nails clawed at his hands in a desperate attempt to get them off of you, but they didn't even budge.
You felt his lips touch your ear as your lungs started to burn and scream for air. Was this what dying felt like? Black spots started to appear in your vision and struggling got harder to do. Then you heard Danton mutter his last goodbyes to you.

"Game over." With those two words you felt something get rammed into your side and getting tangled in your blood and organs. You tried to scream, but there was no air left to make any sound. You felt blood taint skin. That was the last thing you felt before everything went black.
