"It's okay, Swan." Soothed Killian, stroking his fingers through Emma's hair.
"What can we do?" Sobbed Emma.
"I don't know," replied Killian, tearing up.
The two drove home from the hospital after Emma was clear of her recovery. They opened up their door to an empty house, waiting to be filled with family. Killian plopped down on the couch, Emma slowly following.
"If there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that people in this family are survivors." Killian started to say to Emma, "I hope the gene was passed along to our daughter."
Emma chuckled. "I hope so too. But this is what happens to the Charmings. Family is just taken away, by a curse, or by someone who's lost so much family, the only way they feel happy is taking away other's happiness. And that is exactly what happened to us." She started to tear up again.
She rested her head on Killian's shoulder, a single tear rolled down her face.
"You're not just a Charming, Emma. You're a Jones," Killian told her.
Emma looked into his bright blue eyes, and kissed him on the cheek.
"Love. There is something I know will ease your mind. A little bit of advice from an old friend of mine. Swan, everyone gets their happy ending. It is apart of your story. They come in all shapes and sizes. Listen, all happy endings are in the end. If it's not our "happy", then Swan, we are not....we are not in the end." Killian whispered the last part to Emma reassuringly.
The next moment there was a knock at the door.
"I'll get it," Killian said to Emma as he got off the couch. He opened the door to Snow and David.
"Neal's gone!" Sobbed Snow.

"Come in," Killian told his in-laws.
Killian and David sat down on the couch, and Snow sat next to Emma on the other love seat.
"What happened mate?" Killian asked.
"I can't answer that without knowing what happened to you guys. Where's your daughter, my granddaughter?" Questioned David.
"About her, um." Killian started to tear up.
"We lost her," Emma leaned against her mother as tears streamed down her face, "Devon took her."
"Oh, Emma. I am...so, so sorry." David said as he too shed a tear.
"What were you going to name her?" Asked Snow.
"Maylen. Her name is Maylen," Emma responded and wiped off her tears, "Now for your story."
"We went to the well, and you were right. He was there," David told his daughter, "He had Neal in his arms, and he was fast asleep. I went to take out my gun, but Devon was too quick, and with a wave of his hand, he froze Snow and I. Devon said he was transporting Neal and, um, Maylen to a land without magic. New York. Then he put Neal in a basket, but as soon as he did, Neal woke up and didn't cry, but looked at us, then to Devon with a confused look. Devon then lowered Neal into the well, and it was bubbling with green smoke over the edges. Devon evaporated in a cloud of blue smoke, and Snow and I were released. We ran to the well to see Neal one last time, and we saw his face looking up at us, but we might not ever see it again." David had a single tear run down his face.
"I'm sorry, Dad," This time, Killian spoke.
David looked up, and what Killian saw was a loving father, the one he never had, the one he always wanted. The stayed there for a second, each man taking in the fact they were finally being accepted as father and son. Then, they hugged, as every Charming does.
There was another knock at the door. David got up to answer it. When it opened, there were about twenty citizens of Storybrooke, all adults.
"Emma!" Regina had pushed her way to the front. Emma got up from where she was sitting, and so did Killian and Snow, "Sorry to interrupt your little family bonding session, but your kid isn't the one that went missing. Yeah. All these people, their babies dissapeared in a cloud of green smoke too. Hate to say it, Emma, but we don't get to rest in Storybrooke. Looks like we have some more saving to do."
Emma looked from Killian, who had an expression on his face that told her, we can do it. She looked at her father and mother, who faces also told her that no matter what, they would be with her. Well, they didn't have to tell her. She already knew.
