~Micah's POV~
I walked through the forest inside the town line. My parents were in the Enchanted Forest, and we were going to find them.
But that's the thing.
When Maylen found her parents, it was so easy for her to just walk up to them and hug them. Well, I guess that's a thing with the Charmings...they are pretty touchy feely.
Claire jogged up next to me, and walked with me over knarled roots and twisting branches.
We walked for some time before Claire broke the silence, "You've been quiet lately."
I looked at her with a sarcastic expression. She tripped over a root, and before she face-planted into the ground, I caught her.
"Thanks," she breathed.
"Uh uh," I replied.
"So, what's on your mind lately?" She asked.
I took a while to think, "Devon."
"I know! He really is annoying and-"
"No!" I say, then pause. We stop and sit down on a log by a tree with a thick trunk and few leaves.
"In New York, before we knew we were related," her full attention was on the ladybug crawling next to my left hand, "Claire, did you hear what I just said?"
"Uh, yeah!" But she looked up, confused, "Umm, you want to go to Granny's?"
I smacked her, "No, silly! In New York, Devon looked at me, and I looked at him," Okay, now I was reliving the moment, "and I felt as if we were the only two people in the world."
"Interesting," she responded, "I've never had a crush."
"Yeah, I know that!" I nudge her with my elbow, "I just don't know if he feels the same."
"Well, why don't you just ask him?" Claire asks.
"But Claire, don't you see?!" I was agitated at her, well, obliviousness to the situation, for lack of a better phrase.
"Being in a relationship with Devon would mean betraying my friends. Devon is the bad guy here," I thought for a moment, or is he? "It just wouldn't be right."
"Than just don't tell them." She suggested.
I shrugged.
"Well, Charlotte said she had a surprise for me, and to meet her at her house at three, so I should be going, see ya later," and she walked away.
It was nice to have silence. No curses, spells, boys. No problems. Until one of them decided to walk up to me. Those dazzling blue eyes met mine.
Devon stood in front of me, his hands in his coat pocket. And he just said those six words: Will you go out with me?
My jaw dropped. Did he just ask me out?!
But I thought about all I had talked about with Claire.
I can't fall in live with a villan. I could betray my friends, he could betray me.
Maybe I just wouldn't tell them, it would be all fine.
So, I looked him in the eyes and said, "Yes."
Two hours later
Devon told me to meet him by the troll bridge around 5:15, so I came early, too anxious.
He was there too, wearing a nice t-shirt and slacks. I felt way too overdressed.
I walked up to him, and he says, "You look stunning, Micah."
"Why," I blush, "thank you."
I may be a fool to fall in love with the one man we are fighting, but.....I don't know yet. I see something in him.
I'm wearing a light summer dress. Nobody , Claire nor Neal, had said anything when I came home and changed. Although out of the corner of my eye, I swear I saw Claire wink. Maybe it was just an illusion.
We walked up the troll bridge and sat on the railing, looking at the flowing water below.
The night was nice. We stayed on the bridge in silence. About halfway through, Devon slowly put his hand on mine. It stayed like that for the rest of the night, until I fell asleep.
I'm pretty sure Devon magicked me home.
That night, as I slept, I thought about whether or not I should tell Maylen.
Maybe it could wait. Maybe it couldn't.
