Chapter 10

Walking home took twice as long as I was used to, not to mention drove me insane over the fact that an easy life, can easily go from dope, to nopeity no nope.

And yes, my mind is almost the equivalence to pea soup, just a muddled puddle of puke. The thoughts of today, memories that I try to suppress on a daily basis. Plus the old worries, and lately the new anxiety gripping onto me.

I started to notice it when I saw a Rib and Rhyme gang having an outing, and not the picnic type of outing. There was so much arguing that I had to step in for this poor guy that was up against a freaking Sasquatch. The fight deflated when I stepped up, me being the leader of the Violent Cats has been going around the city like a wild fire, including people wanting to make me step down from my position.

The minute I walked from the group, someone tried to sneak up behind me and tackle me. They would've been successful, if I were an idiot. I side stepped the tackle and stepped on his back while leaving the situation. These arrogant misfits were similar to a dog trying to out do a hawk, all pride no strategy. I let out a huff of pent up energy, and started up to my apartment.

Opening the door, I look around my home, and slipped off my shoes. My body was aching from the lack of relaxation, begging for some sort of relief. Luna jumped on the counter I was approaching and watched me prepare her some food and water, and leftovers for myself.

"Can you check the surveillance cameras, Luna?" I asked my cat while setting the food into the microwave, and pouring some whiskey. Taking a large needed sip, I look over at the clock.

12:00, hopefully I get some sort of sleep, what with the many dreams I've been having, they make me ache from lack of rest and much anxiety.

"There was a delivery man who came to the door by accident, he was just looking for the nextdoor neighbor. Other than that, nothing that is a concern." Luna said while licking the back of her paws and rubbing her ear. The cat food no longer visable, and I can hear her purring from the nourishment.

A smile comes to my face, a lot has happened in such a short amount of time, and much I never would have thought about.

Finding Mink

Having a Job

Being Someone instead of No One

And Happiness

The four things that I believed could never happen to such a lonely orphaned girl, desperate for any sense of familiarity from her past. Growing up fast was the thing I regreted the most, and damn did I miss the days where everything was its best, and there wasn't a possibility of sadness. Luna followed me out of the kitchen and into my bedroom, curled up next to me above the covers, and fell asleep.

I patted her snake-like head, and turned off the lamp, and drifted into dream land.

~Morning~

When I woke up, I felt something on my chest, Luna was glaring down at me. I stare at her, still half asleep and wanting to staying in bed. "Can I help you?" I groggly ask Luna, sitting up with a bit of effort, eyes darting quickly from everything to wake up. She raises an imaginary brow, "Do you know what time it is?" She said easily while sashaing away into the living room. I glance at my clock and dart out of bed, " It can't be 10 o'clock already! I'm too tired, not to mention I'll be late to work." I shout while tripping over my fuzzy rug and faceplant onto the hardwood floor.

I get up from the cold floor, and rush to the restroom, and do my hygiene business. Once done with the needed wash and cleaning, I get dressed grab an apple and water bottle, and dash out of the house and locking it.

Running down the sidewalk, reach for my bag, and notice I don't have it. "Fuck!" I shout while kicking a lamppost and quickly running back to the stairs of my apartment. Three at a time, I was running up to the door and quickly unlocked it, to see Luna holding my bag in her teeth. "Sorry Lunes, my mind is pudding at the moment." I say while grabbing her and my bag, while locking the door. She shimmies into my jackets hood while resting her head in between my neck and shoulder. "Calm down Gemma, you're gonna run into something." Luna says while yawning in my ear.

"You're the one who doesn't have a job you whiner! All you have to do is sit there and look pretty." I say while dodging a kid on his bike, the buildings blurring together to make a lot of gray and tons more colors. Suddenly, last night came to mind and the fact that I left Clear there.

Alone.

And I'm not there.....

And Boss is opening up today......

"SHITTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!" I yell while picking up my pace, and going through the streets like it was an obstical course.

By the time I got there, the sign said open and I felt like it was my death day. Taking a deep breath, I go into the lions den.
