Chapter 2

Hugs. Something I missed with all my heart, and I haven't done in years. I feel Minky wrap his arms around my waist, and pick me up so that I was eye level with him. Even with his shocked look, I could see he was happy to see me.

"How you been Minky? Did you miss me?" I ask once he put me down after a moment or so.

"How'd you find me?" He asked slightly amused with my attitude. I giggle and smile at him, not wanting to answer quite yet. I feel my stomach hurt a little and, I grab at it for a second, I noticed that Mink looked at me worriedly.

"I'm ok Minky. Just haven't eaten in a while." I say simply, when I haven't eaten in a week or so. At that moment my stomach makes itself known even more, by growling like an animal. Laughing sheepishly, I scratch at my neck at little, at that point Mink chuckled at me. He takes my wrist and takes me to a food shop, and said to get whatever I wanted from there. I might have been in a food coma, from after all the food I ate. Sighing I lean back in my seat, and thank Mink for the food, he smiles in return.

"Gem, why are you here?" He asks with a blank face, but you can see his gears in his head work. I shrug and tell him, "Well Minky, I have been looking for you, for about three years, but I decided recently to settle down and live normally. So I came here but, once I stumbled across you, I feel like I should stir up some trouble." By the time I explained I had a smirk on my face, and looked to Mink. He looked distressed, like he shouldn't  have been away from me for so long. I leaned over the table, took my fingers, and lifted the corners of his lips, to a smile. I giggle at his reaction, which was slapping my hands away from him and rubbing his face, and I stood up. 

Once up I saw Mink get up as well, and I say, "Well, I'm going to find a place to stay, and maybe a job. You can go do what you were gonna do earlier when we met." I hug him and walked away with determination. I heard Mink run up beside me, grabbed my hand and placed something in my palm. When I looked at it, it looked like a watch and a phone had a kid.

"Here, it has my number and if you need anything just give me a call. I'll call you back if I don't answer right away." And with that he hugs me and walked away. With a smile I walk down the sidewalk and taking in the surrounding areas I could possibly ask for a job.

On one street, I saw some kids run into a junk shop and thought, that I could maybe make a decent penny there. Walking up to the shop door, it suddenly swung open and those kids came running out, screaming and laughing. I smile as I watch them mess with people, everywhere they went. I walk into the store and heard a guy say welcome, from the back room. I walk up to the desk and patiently wait for someone to come from somewhere. As I look around I could see many objects here and there, mostly parts for robots and such. Thinking of making a prototype of a cat robot, I smile as I pick a big enough motor for it.

"Hello, how may I help you?" I heard a man say and when I turned around, I saw a wrinkly old man walk from the back room. I put on a smile that said 'Please hire me!"

"Hi, my name is Gemma and I was wondering, if I could get a job here?" I say while shaking his hand. He smiles back and looked around the room, to think, and nodded his head.

"Sure, can you work late hours?" He said while getting out a piece of paper, that I believe was a employee fill out. I nod my head and reply, "I can work all day if you want me to. I really need a job. I just got here about, an hour ago." He laughs like a grandfatherly figure would, and gave me the sheet.

"Well, you have the job, fill out the sheet and your my employee!" He smiles while going to the back room once again. I giggle at the thought of treating him as, family members and such. Sitting on the counter I fill it out the best I could since I don't have a place to stay, or a last name. Once I finish I call out to the man and say that I'm done. He says for me to come tomorrow around, seven am. I smile and walk out of my job, and walk to find a place to stay. I find a for sale apartment and buy it immediately, since it had furniture and everything.

As I lied down I had a good feeling about this place, and went to sleep to the sounds of cars honking and people talking from below my floor.
