I was in the midst of my healing phase, mending my heart from a heartbreak. I told myself I'll never love again because I already shed too much tears. I've closed the gate to my heart and guarded it with high walls because I've promised myself that I'll never fall again for someone's tricky promises. I became aloof and surrounded myself with thorns of hatred towards the concept of love.

You can't blame me, I've learned my lesson the hard way.

Just as when I was too ready to close my doors to all the possibilities of loving again, I unexpectedly met you. I thought you were just like the rest. I thought you'll just be a waste of time, effort, and love. So, I put you into a test, the hardest test I ever gave to anyone just to push you away. I tried my best to stay away from you. But you were too determined. You've waited patiently without even asking when my test would end. You've been very understanding and tolerated all my excuses and harshness. I hated the fact that you were never discouraged. You made me realized that not all men are the same. You've destroyed the wall that I've built around my cold heart and proved me wrong.

But these realizations were insufficient for me to risk my heart again. I might have moved on but I don't think that's enough reason for me to jump into another love story. Although my heart knows how worthy you are but I just can't. I don't know why but I can't gamble again.

I simply don't want to put my heart at stake.

Then, there you go. You never stopped pursuing me. You were there when I was weary and messed up yet you never left.

I never thought that there's someone who's capable of loving me despite of my coldness, nurse me when I'm sick, guide me when I'm in the wrong path, continuously support me in all my endeavors, encourage me when I'm full of doubts, uplift me when I'm down, surprise me every day and change my frowns into smiles. You've showed me love like no other. You always assure me that I'm your one and only.

You've done all these without any assurance if I'll love you the same way.

You are indeed my answered prayer.

You gave me true love when I least expect it. You gave me a hope of forever despite of being hopeless. You gave me life when I thought I was nothing but a living dead. You gave me everything without even asking for anything but my love.

Now, you have my heart guarded by yours and surrounded it with your unconditional love. My love, know that by loving you, I am taking every risk and I am hoping for a wonderful lifetime with you.
