Silence

Silence spoke more words with us than taking ever could.
I found that out today when you sat next to me, after months of little words.
I attempted conversation but I soon realised that it was pointless to attempt to get you to talk because that's how we clicked.
We didn't need to talk to understand each other.
We both didn't want to be coddled or squeezed to death when we started crying, we both just wanted a presence so that we knew we weren't alone. Someone to talk about silly nothing's whilst we tried not to cry.
Someone to occupy our hands so that we didn't turn to bad habits.
Someone who no matter what we said, didn't give us pity, or look at us with disgust, didn't try to deter the conversation no matter how hard hitting it was, or flip the situation around.
Someone who just absorbed the words we spoke and reminded us we weren't alone.
