-Cindy-

"I'm Blake." Blake interrupts and Jack turns to him.

"Nice to meet you." he says but I can tell he hates him with everything he has. I'm about to say something when the phone my mom gave me beeps.

"Excuse me." I say to the boys. "Try not to kill each other." I mutter as I walk away.

Hey sweetie. I forgot to mention one thing before you left. I was told that the first witch or wizard you meet is to join you on your way. I hope you haven't met anyone yet!! Kisses!  -Mom-

Excitement flows through me at my amazing stroke of luck. Call it fate, but my mom sent me that text the minute I was hoping I could get to know Jack better. Walking back to them, I show Blake the text.

"No!!!" he yells and I smile and turn to Jack.

"Jack, we'd like you to come with us." I say. His eyebrows go up and his eyes narrow.

"We?? Um, speak for yourself." Blake mutters and I laugh, kissing his cheek. This seems to soften him up. He sighs and turns to Jack.

"Have you ever heard of Zarathos?" Blake says sarcastically and by Jack's reaction I can tell he's insulted.

     "Who hasn't?" he snaps.

"Well this is Cindy. Cindy Chase." Blake says and his eyes widen.

"Oh..." he takes a step away from me and I feel disappointed. "So why do you need me?"

"Because my mom said so." I say and he looks like he wants to question me further but I hold my hand up to silence him. He closes his mouth and looks like he's about to smile, but doesn't.

"Well we need to get to the car rental place." Blake says. I nod and Jack steps back.

"I'm not going." he says nervously. I laugh.

"What, too scared to travel out of your confort zone?" I tease.

"I bet you've never been the least bit uncomfortable. Don't be a baby." Blake adds. He scowls and his fingers sparkle a bit. I roll my eyes, wondering if he's even gone through half of what I have in the past five hours.

"Fine, I'm coming. But not for you." he adds, and stomps off towards the rental place. We shrug at each other and follow him without another word.
