"Wait up!" Shouted Ginny towards Harry as he stormed off. "What Gin?" He asked, a acidic venom painting his voice as he looked around. "I can explain?" She begged, the statement turned to a question.
"Why should I?" He asked her "I mean, you talk to Hermione and suddenly you don't speak to me. You break up with me.". Hurt was filling in his voice as he paused to brush his hair back, messing it up. "I met someone else. In another school, so I'm just going to move." She said. He shook his head, walking towards her, closing the distance in a few strides."I'll miss you" he said, tears tainting his voice, which had grown deeper as days passed, but thanks to wizardry blood he didn't go through the squeaking normal teenagers hate. He leaned forward, pressing his lips angrily to hers. He forced hers open, but she shoved away. "no, Harry, I'm leaving." she said, walking away as the tears finally fell from Harry's face. Ron was standing a few feet away, his face in shock. "She can't leave." he said.
"She is." Harry said, shoving past Ron and walking into the school where Hermione met him. "Harry-" she began but his hand flew up, pushing onto her mouth, successfully hushing her. She grunted in a slight protest.
"I didn't tell her to go." she finally said "She chose.". Harry nodded, he knew that. "I want to sleep" He told her, continuing to walk, she decided to closely follow him. Harry shaking his head in a silent protest. They walked in complete silence. Neither wanting nor deciding to find a clear voice.
Luna joined them shortly after, her boyfriend Neville holding her hand, she saw Harry's tense face and chose not to say anything to him. She planned to stay and talk to Hermione, but she wore the same expression and finally Luna decided unless she wanted to start a fight she should go. "Hermione, I really have forgiven you." Harry said when he was sure they were alone.
Hermione looked up to meet his gaze, she could see the dark pain in his eyes. The scary feeling of being alone would always taunt him. "I know." she said, her smile filled with the pain she knew she started. Hermione hoped and hoped that she could make up for what she had done. Her mind tried to go to Draco, but only memorys with Harry came up. She couldn't get her mind off him and she knew what it meant.
When Hermione didn't say anything else he sighed in disappointment and continued to walk away. The dark hallways seemed to swallow the small group of two, the pictures mad about the light they saw, a mere speck from Harry's wand. They taunted them, reminded them of the past. Harry sighed and turned to Hermione "I love you." Harry said, looking directly at her. She pulled in a sharp intake of air, staring at him in complete shock.
She grunted, the words were unable to be deciphered. "I love you to" she finally managed to say. He smiled at her, and she knew he wasn't asking her out. She knew he only said that to get it off his chest, he was to busy getting over Ginny to start anything new. She smiled back and grabbed his hand. He jumped back in shock and tightened his grip. Finally he continued to walk.
"Hey?" She said as he took her to the Gryffindor dorms. "Yeah?" He said to her with a smile. "Well, I was wondering where you were going?" she asked him, with a smile. "i know your not a Gryffindor right now Hermione, but you need to stay at home for awhile." He said "I'll be in Slytherin with Draco. Be nice to Ron." He said. He leaned down and kissed her swiftly on the cheek. Releasing her hand and drifting away.
A giddy smile played on her lips, as Ron peeked around the door. "Hi Miss Granger, why is a Ravenclaw here? This isn't your home anymore." He said to her, the joke in his voice. Hermione smiled, mostly in shock, why was he talking to her? "Hey Ron." She said and he smiled, "Come on in.". She took the greeting and welcomed herself in. Smiling at him brightly. "So, you trying to be a Potter?" He asked her, a smile in his voice.
"no, I'm not. Just friends." She said to him, slightly shoving him in a playful manner. "How are you?" She asked him and he blew out, rolling his eyes. "I really don't know, there's been no action since Sirius, and it's pretty boring without you and Harry amusing me." He replied, his smile was sarcastic, but there was a hint of truth in his strained voice.
"Yeah, it has been pretty slow and boring." She said to him, sitting down on the red couch in front of the fireplace, eternally flaming with magic. After a while she sighed "I miss this place." she said "I can't wait till next school year when I'm officially a Gryffindor again." she said. "I guess you better go." He said to her and she frowned "No way." She told him defiantly.
"come on Gin."Harry said, almost pleading with her. She laughed, it seemed to Harry it was a cover-up for a lack of emotion. turned out he was right as she stormed out of the room.
