The Glade

I stared at this guy in such confusion. I had a million more questions in my head then when I was in that box thing. What is this "Glade" place? Why are there a bunch of teenage boys surrounding me? Why are there no other girls? How long have they been here for? Before I could ask anything, the dark-skinned man interrupted me.

"I know you have a bunch of questions, but seeing as you are the only girl here, we got some questions for you. Now I'm going to have to ask you to let Will go or else you can die."

I knew I was outnumbered so I let the Will-kid go, but I glowered at the other guy for a long time. When Will was free from my ropes and knife he was helped out of the box and he sprinted away.

"Good," the dark-skinned man said. "Now let's talk Greenie."

He started walking and so I clambered out of the box, pushing away the helping hands of all the boys, worried they would hurt me and sprinted after the dark boy who seemed to be the leader. He turned to me and started talking to me, but he never stopped walking.

"Name is Alby, Greenie, and that was pretty shucking stupid what you just did. However, since you're new, we'll be just fine."

I looked at him rather stupidly. Where on earth did the word shuck come from? I wondered. I didn't ask though because Alby turned to look at me rather seriously and I knew I was going to be pestered with his questions before I could start asking my own.

"What do you remember? Tell me everything you remember," Alby spoke curiously and yet firm at the same time, yet his stern look never left his face.

"Umm ok," I began stupidly. "Well, I remember my name is y/n and then basic stuff like how to talk, count, types of foods, animals, stuff like that. But I can't remember anything that would make me me. You know? I don't know my family, or friends, or even what I like or where I've been. It's a bit maddening really but considering the events I haven't had much time to think about it. Just a few minutes where every time I tried to remember something it just seemed farther and farther away."

Alby looked at my closely. He seemed to determine that I was telling the truth because he nodded and said, "Well that's what everyone else goes through. I'm just trying to figure out why the shuck you're a girl."

"So I am not going to die?" I asked hopefully. Alby certainly had the look of someone who would kill you if you got on his bad side.

"No, you're safe. So long as you're here Greenie I may as well give you the tour. Shall we begin?"

A little perplexed, I nodded. As I looked around I realized I hadn't taken this place in at all. It was rather big and was trapped inside these huge walls that formed a perfect square. There were passageways in the exact center if each side of the walls. Weird, I thought.

The place had a lot of green in it too. All I could smell was fresh plants and grass. There seemed to be a forest of sorts off in one corner of the Glade, and we were heading towards what looked like a garden.

Finally, there were a lot of structures that I could only assume the boys themselves made. They were loosely built yet still standing and somehow secure. There was one big building around the center of the Glade and then two or three more in each of the corners. There was only one building that they couldn't have made: the cement building with a small window. I doubted the boys had access to cement, to melt it down, and form it so it would be hard and sturdy. If they did, more of their buildings would've been made out of them most likely.

Alby first headed towards what I assumed to be the northeastern side of the square since that's where we were closest too. As we walked I could feel all the boys' eyes on me. There wasn't a single girl in here. I put my head down and followed Alby.

We entered what appeared to be a garden. There were a few boys plucking fruits and vegetables off of the vines and bushes. I was rather impressed that they had done all this, though I assumed that the box thingy had helped supplied them with this stuff.

Alby turned to one of the boys with dark hair and eyes but rather light skin. Alby asked him where a newt was. I was curious as to why Alby would want to know where a lizard is. The boy said he didn't know so Alby just shouted out,"Newt! Newt, where are you? Got to introduce you to the Greenie."

Starting to get annoyed by this nickname I said,"Look, Alby, see how I use your name? Would you care to use mine and stop calling a color? It's y/n, not Greenie."

"Whatever, y/n." he retorted. I was annoyed y his childishness but at least he was using my name.

Then a boy came out of nowhere. He was tall, taller than Alby by a good two or three inches. He had sandy blonde hair and soft brown eyes. He was skinny, but definitely not scrawny. On the contrary, he was really strong. His muscles stood out to me second only to those soft eyes. I have no idea how, but for one fleeting second, he seemed familiar to me.

"Alright, Alby, slim it would you? I was helping a Glader..." He talked in a funny, but cute accent. But for some reason when his eyes looked at me he faltered in his words before smiling an adorable smirk. I couldn't help but think that he was really cute.

"Newt, this is y/n. She's our new Greenie," Alby said introducing us. He watched us closely, a little confused that we were both gaping at each other. On one side though, I figured out that Newt was a person, not the lizard newt.

"Hello, beautiful. I'm Newt," he introduced himself and stuck out his hand. I couldn't help but blush at the word "beautiful."

"Hi, Newt," I said and I took his hand and looked back into his gazing eyes. They stared back at me with such intensity and wonder I felt as if I could stare into them all day.

"Hey, Alby?" Newt said finally breaking contact to look at Alby, "Could I finish the tour with y/n? I am just about done here and I know you have some work to do."

"It's fine with me," Alby confirmed, but he looked at Newt a little suspiciously. Then he looked back at me. "See you at the bonfire Greenie."

Then I was left with Newt.

"Well then, shall we begin our tour?"
