Headstrong

Days past.

I was in complete jubilation, I was with the most perfect guy in the world and for once in my life I felt perfect. My life was perfect. I couldn't believe that I had gone from lost orphan to someone who was wanted.

But I should have know that my happiness won't last.

It started as a regular Friday afternoon, though it was one of the few days Emmett was gone because of the sun. I wished for nothing more than for school to end so that I could to his house and see him. I was sitting on one of the lunch tables outside, trying to enjoy the sun. Right before lunch ended, Penny came and sat down next to me. Her face was flushed and she looked terrified. I immediatly snapped into alert mode. I got off the table and sat next to Penny, draping my arm over her shoulder.

"Penny?" I asked, though she didn't make a movement to tell me she heard me. "What's wrong?" Penny moved slightly but not enough. I pulled her up off the seat and dragged her toward the school, toward the only place where we could really talk.

The girl's restroom.

I pulled her into the small restroom and set her on the counter. Penny looked dead. Her usually curly hair and straight and she had no make up on like she always did. I grabbed her shoulders and shook her until she looked at me.

"Penny?" I asked, when she was looking at me. "What happened?"

"I'm..." Her voice trailed off and she bit her lip. "Pregnant." My head started to spin. I had to grasp the counter top to steady myself. Penny jumped off the counter and help me stay steady. "Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah." My voice was very shaky.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told you now." She apologized. I shook my head.

"It's okay; let's get you out of here though." I said, leading her from the bathroom. "We'll go take a drive and we can talk."

"What about Maybelle?" She asked, I stopped suddenly.

"Shit, here I'll call her and tell her I'm sick." I got out my cell phone and called Maybelle. She sounded worried and asked if she should come home. I rolled my eyes and politly told her no. She sighed and said she'd be home late tonight and Jenna was staying the night with a friend.

"Let's go." I said, leading the way to Penny's car. I gently placed Penny in the passanger seat and walked over to the driver's side. I got in and peeled out of the school yard. I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Emmett's number.

"Yo, this is Emmett. Can't get to my phone, leave a message." His voice still sent shivers of pleasure down my spine.

"Hey Em, it's Angel. I had to run Penny home. Be back later. Love you." And I hung up. I prayed he wouldn't be angry. We were just out of Forks when I desided to break the long awkward silence between me and Penny.

"Are you okay?" I asked lamely.

"Yeah, just trying to get over the shock is all." She replied.

"Penny, who's the father?" I asked, not trying to beat around the bush. This took her a while to answer. She stared out the window for a while, then at her hands, and the; finally; me. Her face was covered in fresh tears. "Penny, who is the father?" I asked again.

"You'll never believe me." She whispered.

"Try me."

And she lauched into her long tale. "Last Friday, the day you were spending with Emmett, I went up to Port Angeles. I went and saw a movie and wat some dinner. I was walking through a dark alley, a short cut to the lot where my car was parked.

"Right as I opened my door someone touched my arms, causing me to jump. I turned to see a man dressed in all black. Everything about him was black, exept his skin; which was pale white; and his eyes; which were red. I dismissed his skin thinking it was a condition and dismissed his eyes thinking they were contacts. I looked at him until he spoke.

"Hi I'm Felix." The name sent shivers up my spine, it couldn't be the same person could it?

"'Penny.' I told him, hesitantly. He offered his hand and I shook it. Sudden he hanked me forward and pressed my body against his. His lips attached to mine. Please believe when I say I fought him with all my might, but the monster was strong. This is the weird part. He bit me. And not just any bite, he sucked my blood." She looked at me, expecting me to laugh.

"I'm not going to laugh Penny, this is serious." I did a sudden U-turn.

"You believe me?" She asked astonished.

"Of course I do." I turned slightly and pulled her collar down. Sure enough there were bite marks on her neck. My stomach hit the floor. This was all my fault. My best friend was raped by my vampire stalker, who was most likely trying to get to me. And now she's pregnant with his child. We made it back to Forks within five minutes.

"He left after he raped me." Penny whispered. "He didn't say anything, he just left me there in the cold night." I pulled into Penny's drive way.

"Penny, I want you to go up into your room and don't let anyone in until I call you." I said. "If I don't call me and if I don't answer call the Cullens." Penny nodded and got out of the car. I hated to leave her but I had no other choice. I quickly drove home to an empty house and ran up to my room.

I flicked on the light to my room and I almost passed out.

"Hello, love." He purred.
