THE DARK INTRICATE doors to the dining room were closed with two guards posted side by side, tall and bulky, scary even. Draven appeared at my side as flames danced all over his body, spinning around him then fading away. He looked magnificent when he did that, pulling up his right sleeve and checking his watch, then glancing down at me. I gave him a glare.

"Why didn't you defend me sooner." I asked annoyed it had taken him so long to tell her I was his mate. The situation wouldn't have gotten out of hand if he had just spoken up. "You let her say those nasty things about me. Am I to assume you do not want me the way I thought you did?"

It had only been a day since my arrival here. I was beginning to believe I really didn't know him. Which when I think about it now, I don't. I needed to keep my eye on him. Trust was earned.

"I apologize my love. If I'm being honest my attention was more on the male she called her mate." He pulled me close bending down to give me a long kiss on the lips. I didn't comply and was stiff against his heated touch.

I peeked at the guards but their eyes were averted from us, giving us well needed privacy. I relaxed only a minuscule.

"She is actually very mean, like you said. Her aura is a putrid green color. Maybe you should talk to her, something could be bothering her.

"I feel like she's checked out a long time ago. She was never the same after my mother left us and when I killed my father she grew a hated towards the world. Maybe even towards me." My eyes saddened a bit.

I experienced that same hatred when my mother was banned from her home and from the man that promised her a life with him. We were forbidden from even going to find her and even now I don't know where she could be. It took a painful tole on me and Apollo that even we didn't speak to each other for a long time after. I sighed. Apollo.

"I'm so sorry my dazzling mate. Please forgive me. I will always defend you but my sister is fragile. Under that tough exterior I know she's hurting, believe me I do."

Listening to him made me see her in a slightly different light. Very slight. She was very young and she has feelings too. I would apologize to her when I got the chance.

"Shall we eat?" Draven asked, giving me a small smile, much smaller than the smiles he'd givin me the night before. I only nodded.

He waved a hand and the guards stepped aside as someone inside the door announced our arrival.

"All rise for King Draven and his newly found mate Artemis, Goddess of the Moon." A voice boomed but after that I only heard silence.

"Did he really need to announce my title." I whispered. I didn't need the people of Dravens kingdom to fear me. Gods hadn't been to earth since before any of these people were born.

He only winked at me.

The large doors opened and all eyes were poured into my soul. I felt nauseous from the amount of wolves here, some I knew from mating and others who were oblivious to me. All happy faces, each and every one my eyes landed on.

The room was enormous almost like the canteen in Olympus. The endless tables were long and filled with many wolves who only stared at me mesmerized. Could it be from my beauty. Could it be from their king finally having a mate and a queen.

Then Draven being the gentlemen he is, leaned his elbow down a bit so I could put my arm through, leading me to a large table upon the many, this one seeming a bit wider. Then escorting me to the chair at the end, this one much smaller than the enormous black curved chair beside it. This one was also black, curved at the end but it seemed like the perfect size for me. He pulled it out, and I happily plopped down, thanking him as he went to seat himself next to me. Side by side. King and Queen.
